I’m reviewing my tour with Yama Tours which, because of the pandemic, did not happen. It is important to chose a reputable tour operator and one you can trust. Our tour had to be cancelled because of both the pandemic and civil unrest. In these situations, you are concerned about your deposit. Yama Tours could not have been more thorough, trust worthy or understanding. Hopefully, within a year, we will be able to rebook our trip with them, having dealt with them in adversity, we look forward to joining them once situations allow, Ethiopia is a travel ambition and we couldn’t be happier to enjoy it in the capable hands of Yama Tours!

Our family could not have imagined having a more meaningful trip to Ethiopia. Our youngest dau ghers were adopted from Ethiopia 12 years ago, so we decided that our family of six would experience the sites and culture of the beautiful country togehter. Abebe went above and beyond. Despite the orphanage being closed, he connected us with the orphanage director who knew our girls well. She was able to provided us with information we didn't know and give us important family documents. Because of Abebe’s engagement and persistence, we were able to locate and connect with dozens of our daughters' family members, including a brother and sister we didn't know existed. Of course, this was not a part of the original plan, yet Abebe adjusted because he knew it was important to us. It is not an overstatement to say that this trip was life changing because of Abebe’s commitment to giving our family the best experience possible. This would have been a 5-star rating without the orphanage and family elements. I wish I could give him bonus stars.

The trek includes two half days of trekking and five full days. The elevation of the trek will rise and fall between 2000 – 4000 meters above sea level. Expect to see a variety of wildlife including Gelada monkey, Walia Ibex and a variety of bird life. If you’re lucky you may also see the simien fox as well as leopards.

I traveled to Ethiopia on my own and while I was there I decided to purchase Simien Image Tour & Travel's "Hawassa and Rift Valley Lakes – Two Days Tour." I had difficulties with paying because I was new to experience of financial transactions in Ethiopia, being it was my first time visiting, and my bank in America was having issues with processing some transactions. Alexander Kemal was extremely patient with me and eventually everything was worked out. The morning of the tour's first day the driver was prompt with picking me up from the hotel and we were off. When he told me we were doing to get my tour guide I nonchalantly thought to myself "for what reason!" I wasn't concerned about having a tour guide, just getting to Hawassa and seeing what was on the way there. To my surprise Candy Walker, my tour guide, was an excellent guide. She is very knowledgeable on the history and various cultures of Ethiopia, therefore I learned a lot in two days. Buze, the driver, was the perfect driver for this road trip and was fabulous DJ! He knew all the scenic stops, all the best foods to order whenever we ate, where to get the best buna in Shashamene, and he's even a decent dancer while driver. I saw and experienced way more than I thought I would and I am eternally thankful that I happened to call the business that day. One business transaction, and a two day tour was enough to establish the foundation for a several friendships that I am appreciative of. I will definitely be recommending your business to any and everyone.

Activity: private transfer from Bahir Dar to Gondar Negative: - driver asked for more money because he dropped me of not at the city centre but at my hostel which was a nasty move because: a.) this was agreed with Tesfaye (who runs this company) b.) it was only a 200m detour but way before the centre (aka shorter anway) c.) the guy had to ask for directions even on the way to Gondar and then we had to guide him in Gondar by using our google maps When he asked for more money I demanded him to call Tesfaye.. he stared at me blankly and after a minute and me repeating myself he moved back in the car. - I asked Tesfaye if we could leave earlier the next day. 10am was the time he told me before but he arrived at 8:05am and then stressing me to get ready. Positive in one way at least ... Positive: - The car was super comfy, we were only two passengers in a Toyota Landcruiser kind of car. Definitely worth spending that couple of Euros more over going with public transport! - Tesfaye was a nice guy and was easy to communicate in English with

We had a wonderful day with Getnet's team in Debre Lebanos. They organised a trip for our entire group and everything worked just perfect. Excellent driver (driving through Ethiopia means something different than in Europe :)) and very knowledgeable guide. The price they offered was also competitive.

Simien Mountain and Danakil are two different landscapes, simien mountains are part of the Ethiopian Highlands. They are a World Heritage Site and include the Simien Mountains National Park. The mountains consist of plateaus separated by valleys and rising to pinnacles. Where as danakil is one of the most geologically active regions with three tectonic plates meeting at the Afar Triple Junction. When tectonic plates move apart like at Danakil, it creates lave lakes, hot springs, geysers and fissures in the ground. The rock-hewn churches of Lalibela in Ethiopia are the most extraordinary man-made sites in sub-Saharan Africa. I've got the best possible service, as for me. I had a really good guide and great driver. He was very attentive: I did video on the way with opened windows and driver closed window for safety and said me I can continue to video street life. I liked traditional clothing market a lot: if you want to have really beautiful souvenir from Ethiopia, I think Shiromeda ( I'm not sure, if I wrote it correctly..) is the best possible place)) I really highly appreciative for the service I had. We visited Mercato market and I felt totally safe there: without a guide I would never go there. But with the guide it was very interesting and safe visit. The tour is flexible and it's great: you can choose what is interesting for you. We bought good coffee on the way and also I've tasted avocado and mango juice)) The owner of company is great and treated me in the best way)) Highly recommended Ethio Travel and Tours for your tours through Ethiopia and Addis.

Having recently visited Lalibela, I can highly recommend Sami Lalibela Tours. He speaks English very well. From the moment we arrived, he quietly and professionally arranged everything for us. We stayed for four days. He picked us up on time from the airport in a new and clean vans. He arranged all the details of our tours with the churches. He negotiated the guide’s fee and paid everything for us. The guide was wonderful too. The next day he arranged all the details for our mule/hiking trip up the mountain to see the baboons. Again, every detail was cared for by Sami including lunch reservations for the top of the mountain and supper reservations after having consulted with us. This guide was also very good and the whole mule team and their handlers were great. He offered us Ethiopian “Jebena” coffee with his family each day too. We felt very welcome and confident in his care. At the end, he presented us with one bill for the church fees, guides, etc. and everything was as agreed upon with no surprises. It was really reasonable too. (He also runs a guest house which was a great experience too!) He also delivered us back to the airport on time. During the whole trip he always reserved professional drivers and clean vans. We were traveling with four children (aged 2-15) and he accommodated all of our needs. Thank you, Sami! We had a care-free and relaxing vacation due to all your careful planning. Thank you, again! Our entire family agrees that this was an amazing trip and really well planned.
