The 10 Best Tours in Central Norway, Central Norway

July 10, 2021 Margarita Chappel

The central Norwegian area of Trondelag has its ideological capital in Trondheim, founded by Viking king Olaf Tryggvason in the 10th century and the seat of Norway's power until the 13th. Today, it's still the country's third-largest city, a university town with a rich culture. Trondelag's western offshore islands of Hitra and Froya are popular for outdoor adventures like camping, hiking, biking, snorkeling and scuba diving. They are also one of the world's best spots for deep sea fishing.

A great tour to get to know the city. For me as a Norwegian it was interesting to see how a foreigner sees the Norwegian culture and can put it in context with his own experience. And he is very knowledgeable and clearly has a deep interest for the city and it's history. Erik

This is why the Sjoa River has become famous all over the world – and absolutely our most popular rafting trip! This trip will take you through a picturesque and peaceful environment, narrow canyons and wildly exciting rapids such as "Golfstrømmen", "Hay stacks", "Bye Bye Baby", "Faukstad drop" and many more. In total we raft about 15-18 km, depending on the water level.  We end this lively and sensational trip with a hot lunch and a warm shower at our base.

Inclusions: Morning coffee/tea, Lunch, Professional guide

Exclusions: Souvenir photos (available to purchase)

Had such an amazing time!! The team from Go were friendly and made sure we were well informed and having fun. Totally recommend it to anyone who is visiting Norway!! We went on trips on multiple rivers, the Sjoa day trip, Otta family trip and the Sjodalen. Loved them all for different reasons: Sjoa has great rapids and is a little more challenging and loads of fun. Otta is good for families with young children and the staff at Go were great with the kids on our raft keeping them engaged and having fun. Sjodalen is slightly calmer and good for youngsters and has the most beautiful scenery.

Take an moderate 5 to 7 hour hike through Dovrefjell National Park in search of the magnificent wild musk ox. From your experienced guide, learn how to look for these woolly, hardy, cold-weather beasts and gain insight into local flora and fauna as you walk. There might also be a chance to see reindeer and mountain grouse during the hike if we are lucky. The hike is suitable for most people who are used to moderate hiking.

Robert was a wonderful guide. We were a family with 3 generations, all with slightly different needs. He adapted the trail to the pace of grandchildren and grandparents whilst keeping it engaging for us all. There were a barrage of questions which he handled well that allowed us to plan the rest of our trip. I would highly recommend Robert.
