My son arranged this day trip for us because I REALLY wanted to see some Mayan ruins and cenotes. It was glorious. We traveled as a group of 10, 4 of my married children + spouses, and my husband and I. Jesus was a terrific guide and willing to adjust and cater the day to whatever we wanted to do. He is very knowledgeable about the area and had suggestions for what we might want to see. We visited the ruins, two different cenotes (we swam at each one, Jesus provided snorkels), had time to shop in town for a bit, and enjoyed a delicious lunch...a place with a camel painted on the wall and wonderful fish tacos. If we felt "snacky" Jesus had a cooler full of drinks and snacks, including fruit and yogurt. The van was comfortable and there was plenty of room for all 10 of us. Jesus was a fabulous host and I would highly recommend him and his expertise!

Bacalar is an idyllic town set on an enchanting inland lagoon, immersed in nature, with a presence of colonial history & pirates. We embark upon a sailing boat to navigate our way across the mesmerizing waters of 7 different shades of blue. The contrasting tones make a fabulous location for exploring the waterways, the hidden history & exuberant nature of Bacalar. This place will make you feel happy & relaxed immediately, and in traveling by sail boat, a wonderfully natural alternative to noisy motorboats, you will feel integrated into this wonderful environment. An absolute must for those interested in beautiful landscapes, nature photography, sailing & water sports. Great for a family day out or simply to get away from the Riviera Maya for something more laid back. The lagoon is a virtually unknown alternative to the beach, with the clearest of water you are ever likely to see.

At Chacchoben mayan ruins you’ll be leaded by a professional local guide. We will walk in the jungle to explore and learn about the different structures of the mayan site such as: Temple 24, Plaza B, Gran Plaza, Gran Basamento, Los Gemelos, Las Vasijas and Templo Uno. This excursion also offers the possibility to learn about local plants and observe some species of local fauna, including birds and spider monkeys. At Bacalar lagoon the first place to visit is “Cenote Esmeralda”, where you’ll be amazed by the different shades of blue and understand why the Bacalar Lagoon is frequently referred as the 7 colors lagoon. The next point to enjoy will be “Black Cenote” which is an open sky cenote and also the deepest point of the lagoon. The final spot to explore is the Pirate Channel, as you’ll be explained that day, pirates used to enter Bacalar by using this channel to steal local precious wood.

Very good experience to some of the lesser known mayan ruins. The place was almost desolated and we could enjoy the ruins with only the jungle sounds. Our guide Alondra was knowledgeable and nice, and the transport was clean and on time. Highly recomended

Bacalar is listed as one of the best magical towns for being a heavenly place. This magical place receives its name from the Mayan word bʼak halal, meaning "surrounded by reeds.” You can find small fishermen's houses. In this place, you will be able to appreciate the 7 different shades of blue, which is why it is called the Seven Colors Lagoon. In this wonderful place, it is possible to swim, snorkel, dive, and take quiet boat rides. In addition, the bastions of the Fort of San Felipe, from where you can get one of the best views of this natural lagoon wonder, you can imagine the stories of the pirates, while its temples and squares offer a provincial atmosphere. It is also considered the gateway to the underwater caves of the Blue Cenote and interesting Mayan archaeological areas covered by the jungle. Its waters are transparent and its white sand; where you can find fish, parrots, and scarlet macaws, as well as different cenotes and the site of the "abandoned ship"

PLEASE DO IT. LIKE LITERALLY JUST DO IT. We went with a huge group! SO MUCH FUN!!! It was absolutely beautiful and it made our trip one to remember with out a doubt. Our tour guide was super sarcastic and chill. We also did the tequila tasting and bought a bottle of 100% pure agave Azul. BRING YOUR OWN BUGSPRAY. You’re gonna need it! They have tiny packets for sale but it only covers like one forearm lmao.
