The 10 Best Tours in Austria, Austria

November 10, 2021 Brandee Mangan

As home to majestic mountains, opulent palaces, and high culture, Austria's attractions are classically sumptuous and enduring. But beyond the waltzes, the strudels, the alpine summits, and Habsburg architecture, its modern cities are proof of just how easily Austria combines the contemporary with the historic.

In the birthplace of Mozart, I thought that this would be a good thing to do on my trip. It was and I'm so glad that I did it. The building and the marble room are both amazing just to look at and it's a very atmospheric venue. The music and musicians were enchanting and I feel that I got value for the money I paid. I'd recommend paying a little more for the seats nearer the muscians, if you can, so you can see both their expertise in action, as well as hearing it.

After 4 hours with Kurt we just could not eat anything more for the rest of the day. At the last stop we got a doggybag for the lovely plate of cheese and more. Kurt just keeps telling nice stories about food, his family, the city and all the great lokals that make tasty products. Kurt is very good in the communication before you meet and after, he gives the customer a unique experience. Although the cost for this tour are not small, we are happy to spend it on Kurt and his tour. We wish him (and his home team at the farm) all the best with the lovely foodtour!

We never got to take the day trip to Austria tour we prepaid for last summer due to the pandemic. Sure it would’ve been nice. I was, however, frustrated about the refund policy! Not only was the company a stickler about not giving us a full refund (though it was not our choice to cancel), they would only issue the refund through Pay Pal which charged us an additional international fee! What a rip off! Very disappointed at their overall lack of flexibility. Consumer beware!!

By far this was the best thing I've done during COVID-19. My sister was supposed to travel to Austria with her family to celebrate her 50th birthday, but was unable to do so because of the pandemic. With Chef Johann's help, he transported us to Austria via Zoom for a true culinary adventure! We made apple and cabbage strudel, pretzels, and the class concluded with a mini concert featuring a Mozart Aria. This would be great to do as a date or with your whole family. Chef Johann also did a great job of coaching us through the recipes. I am not an especially skilled cook and he talked me through every step of the way. I would absolutely recommend this, and I hope to one day travel to Austria and take a class in person!

The Admont Abbey library was our main reason for choosing Austria as a vacation destination. It did not disappoint. I feel like I had plenty of time to take all the photos I wanted here, which was much appreciated. Hallstatt was equally as amazing, but very congested with so many tours there. It's a must see! These tours we booked through this company were all very good. They make plenty of stops (albeit quick stops) during the drive.

Today we've been to the walking tour in Vienna city center with a very intelligent, smart and gentle guide name Lisa. Due to the upcoming lockdown (i guess) as a fact, we had individual tour, and enjoyed the city in our own rythm. Lisa is a very good teller with perfect English and profound knowledge of her subject, she's patient, friendly and with great sense of humor. She's got a pack of amuzing stories helping to vizualize the epoch. Lisa is a good guide for you. Thank you for the good job! Yulia, Sasha & Eva

This tour was not my list even though I knew about it. It rained so we did it. OH MY GOD, wow that was time well spent. The travel distance going into the mine was unbelieveable. Seemed it went on forever. The slide was so smooth, something you can not do in the states, we went down as a family. That was fun to be together to experience. Well worth your time. In fact we are going back to the region and I have researched other salt mines and we are going to them also.
