Zhaoqing, formerly romanized as Shiuhing, is a prefecture-level city in Guangdong Province, China. During the 2010 census, its population was 3,918,467, with 1,232,462 living in the urbanized areas of Duanzhou District and Gaoyao County. The prefectural seat—excluding Seven Star Crags—is fairly flat, but thickly forested mountains lie just outside its limits. Numerous rice paddies and aquaculture ponds are found on the outskirts of the city. Sihui and the southern districts of the prefecture are considered part of the Pearl River Delta.

This was the first Chinese nature reserve and is very popular, especially during Bank Holidays. It has some excellent views and the temple is worth seeing. The waterfall is certainly worth a visit, although difficult to appreciate it at it's best when the park is busy. The road structure is good and there is sufficient local transportation to take you to the mountain top. Unfortunately from my perspective, there is too much concrete and structure, it is quite different from what I would expect in the UK, where you would probably have a large mansion/property with the remaining area predominantly green.

Dominated by spectacular limestone peaks, this is a large lake area with lots of caves and underground rivers.
This is my second visit to this scenic park...after a sojourn of five years. Was impressed by the good standard of upkeep and maintenance.... The beauty of the limestone mountain peaks reflected on the tranquil lakes still lingers in my mind. Glad also to be able to feed the school of koi fishes at the tea house pond. Left refreshed and inspired after this recent visit.

Went on a bright sunny day, my travelling companion visited the island by the traditional hand rowed boat to the island- very calming tree lined facility - in summer the butterfly facility would be an added attraction.
The lake forms part of the Dinghu Mountain Resort - also see that review

This wall dates from the Song Dynasty, it is safe to climb and gives an idea of how the city could be defended.
Locals live within the walls and on top on the city side. On the other side of the road is the current city of Zhaoqing.
Worth an hour or so... there is no admission fee although you may be tempted by the street food sold by the vendors at top of the wall.
