Seoul is the business and cultural hub of South Korea, where skyscrapers tower over Buddhist temples. Take it all in from the N Seoul Tower, built atop a peak in Namsan Park. The teahouses and shops of Insadong give you a taste of Korean flavor, which you can further experience with a visit to the grounds and museums of Gyeongbokgung. UNESCO World Heritage Site Changdeokgung Palace is a fine example of authentic ancient architecture.

Splendid park for appreciating the beautiful cherry blossoms - very clean and near the river where more blossoms line the boulevard.

We found this park quite accidentally while in Seoul. The park is a short walk from Seonyudo subway station via a pedestrian walkway and bridge over the roads and river. Originally the site was a water treatment plant and it has been very cleverly converted into a very pleasant park by re-purposing the structures of the old plant to create various garden areas including an aquatic botanical garden. The cafe has a fantastic view of Seoul across the river. We enjoyed the park not only because of the gardens, but also the imaginative and clever way old infrastructure has been returned to the public domain.

If the weather is beautiful and you have a few hours to spare, this is the perfect place to be. It's nice to get away from the crowded Seoul streets and come out to some nice wide open spaces where people walk at a slower pace and people blast out K-pop in a friendly manner.

While not as large as Pohang's yearly event, the Seoul International Fireworks Festival brings a million people to the banks of the Han River every October. With a range of daytime performances and several exuberant themed fireworks shows by teams from both South Korea and abroad, the event is capped off by a DJ-led after party. Yeouido Hangang Park provides a comfortable and scenic backdrop as the vibrant and booming festival mirrors Seoul's thriving nightlife.
