The Winery was built in 1993 to produce 1500 cases of premium wine per annum and to function as a gallery. The winery was constructed to compliment the existing heritage values of the Undercliff Estate and was built from a combination of local, recycled and modern materials.
Had a wonderful weekend in this little piece of history. We loved our stay because we were not searching for ultra modern conveniences and are not phased by the bits of quirkiness than come with a property like this but if one is picky about those things, they might restrain from making a booking. For history lovers, wine lovers and quirky accepters, you will love staying in the cottage and stopping by the cellar door to share a chat with Peter and try his wines. Being dog friendly with a large space is super useful as well as you can easily organise your trip around this. Thanks Peter and Jane!

Lovely little museum that provides a great overview of what life was like in the olden days as well as the history of wollombi. Entry is so cheap ($2/adult, children free) and the gentleman who was manning the desk was very friendly and provided us with a brief overview of the history of wollombi which was great as it provided us with context as we looked at the beautifully displayed exhibits. There was a room where our entry activated a voice and verbal 'play' about the inhabitants and piano! so entertaining! although the space was very compact, it was full of information and lovely exhibits! highly recommend!

Planning a visit to Hunter Valley Wine Country and hoping to take the road less travelled? Why not enjoy a scenic drive on Tourist Drive 33, along the Great North Road or Convict Trail, through the beautiful NSW countryside. Food and wine, adventure activities, nature and wildlife, walking and cycling, festivals and events, history and culture.
While it is faster to take the M1 motorway it is much more enjoyable to take Tourist Drive 33 as its a great drive from Cessnock to the Central Coast. Its an easy drive and you get to enjoy the village of Wollombi on the way.

As part of our bike trip we had planned to drop in. I like the fact that it was a vineyard/cellar door within 300 mtrs from the town centre. Was not disappointed. A smaller range of wines, but that does not mean lack of quality. Very reasonable prices. And nonna's heritage shines through with the Grappa's & Limoncellas.
