Whaligoe Steps

365 steep steps where the herring used to be brought up from the harbour below. Steps uneven, and slippery in places, so care needed, and not for the unfit or faint hearted! I only managed about 70 before turning back (no head for heights). Amazing to see what the workers had to do in the past. Cafe closed for October, which was a shame

Castle Sinclair Girnigoe

Reviewed By Hayley R - Aberdeen, United Kingdom

We got recommended to visit this place by the women who worked in the heritage museum as the light from the museum was from the noss head lighthouse, close to here. If we hadn't been told about it we wouldn't have realised to come as there are literally no signs for it. This castle has an amazing history and is very well preserved. There are lots of information boards to tell you about it and you have free access to roam around respectfully. I am also told there are some geologically interesting rocks in this area. There is a beautiful rocky bay with lots of rock balancing set up and is just beautiful, one of our highlights!

Old Wick Castle

Reviewed By NeilSK - Lincoln, United Kingdom

This is not as amazing as the nearby Castle Sinclair Girnige and little remains beyond the keep walls. It's also a less pleasant walk which seems to pass by a military range but as you get near you are by a step sea inlet with crashing waves and steep cliffs. This is a great place for a castle - just be careful by the edge

A nice beach, with very few people around. Fantastic views - and on a sunny day would be great for some relaxation on the sands.

We went to see the Bevvy Sisters last night and were blown away by their musical range and sense of humour. We particularly enjoyed the MIchael Marra covers. The venue was well organised, friendly and comfortable. Willie Wilson has made a rare gift to the Far North.

This was a fantastic morning out for the children at a very decent price. The staff were all excellent, supportive and ensured that everyone had a fantastic time and experience. We will definitely be back again next year and telling everyone about this place!
