What an awesome place to visit and so close to home. A wonderful hike for all seasons although spring probably provides the best views of the falls!

The Pine Mountain Overlooks were a labor of love, created in order for people to be able to come from all over to enjoy the beauty that Letcher county Kentucky provides. \r\n

Driving through Whitesburg (I'm from VA), we found Kentucky Mist by chance... WOW I'm glad we did. They have the BEST moonshine of all the distillierys I have tried. And trust me, I have sampled in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Lexington, Knoxville, Asheville... multiple places. The fruit flavors have a natural berry taste unlike other places that tend to taste synthetic. I can drink the strawberry and grape straight from the jar because it taste so yummy. Staff has been amazing with every visit. If you are passing through I highly recommed you given this hidden gem a try.

What an honor it was for my husband and me to finally see a bit of the “workings” behind Appalshop’s tremendous contributions in connecting this region and the world beyond in such an authenticating and beneficial way for all parties! To be greeted and guided by Filmmaker Elizabeth Barrett herself and have her autograph one of her most famous films was an unexpected blessing! The flagship for so many smaller, but needed efforts,—such as our own Butler County Arts Guild—Appalshop is to be applauded for its 50 productive years!
Located where the old Falcon Inn used to be, this overlook is dedicated to Community Trust Bank. The elevation at Falcon Overlook is 2,557 feet. Etched in the concrete is the date 1948 and the name Doyle. This location was an overgrown building foundation with only a chimney standing.
Located in scenic southeastern Kentucky, parts in Letcher and Harlan counties the Little Shepherd Trail is a curvy mountain road that twists and turns more than 350 times as it leads to the most stunning views in the state. The windiest road in Kentucky is not for the faint of heart, but your heart will surely fall in love with this magical drive in our beautiful state.
