Capernaum 1st Century Village and Majestic Statue Garden is unlike anything of its kind in North America. The village is a replica of an authentic first century village with several single and multilevel stone houses and other structures of that era. The garden is over 30,000 sq. ft. with statues and other life size features taking visitors from Creation through the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Clark Gardens Botanical Park welcomes visitors all year long. The breathtaking 35 acre oasis awakens the senses, stirs the spirit and relaxes the mind. From the first spring blossoms to the colorful fall and into the stillness of winter there is a sense of magic. Wheelchair accessible pathways wind through lavish ribbons of color and fragrance. Waterfalls sparkle in the sunlight splashing down to ponds and lakes where black and white swans, along with other waterfowl, glide in the shimmering waters. You may see peacocks strutting, or get a glimpse of blue herons or great egrets swooping down, their huge wingspans casting shadows over the lakes.
Having never heard of Clark Gardens, and living only an hour away, my hopes for a stunning experience were small. However, nothing could be further from the truth. The place was magnificent! The fall leaves were on display, there were plenty of flowers in bloom, and the water features were amazing! Around every corner was another, “Ooh, Ahh” moment. I can’t wait to return in April to see the spring flowers in bloom!

The mission of the James and Dorothy Doss Heritage and Culture Center is to collect, preserve, and interpret the history of Parker County through cultural and educational events that raise awareness and pride in our western heritage.
This is the best kept secret west of the Mississippi. On top of that it is free (donations accepted). Rich exhibits on many aspects of the settlers and old west. An amazing collection of firearms, as well as household items. Lots of text accompanying the exhibits, although docents are available and quite willing to share as much or as little as you wish. Everything from archaeology to an actual stagecoach. Lovely grounds. There are facilities for private meetings.

Plenty to see and learn about this war and those who fought in it. The volunteer was great at answering all my teenage sons questions. My young daughter had plenty as well.
