Ten Chimneys

Ten Chimneys is the estate lovingly created by Broadway legends Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne. With no ropes and nothing under glass, guests are treated to a VIP guided tour of a National Historic Landmark replete with original furnishings and overflowing with the romance of the 1930s and ’40s. “Every time I was visiting with the Lunts in Genesee Depot, I was in a sort of daze of wonder; the dining room, the table, the China, the silver, the food, the extraordinary care and beauty and taste…a sort of dream, a vision.”-Katharine Hepburn

The tour of this amazing place I had been curious about for years was wonderful. Full of history, romance, culture, and art! Such an amazing couple who found solace in Wisconsin! This is a gem of a tour and so unique! I'm glad they chose Genesee Depot for their hideaway and also glad it is now shared with the public!

My husband and I hiked for about two hours here in Fall on a weekday. It was a beautiful day, and we enjoyed the more difficult trails. The trails were not busy at all, which was really nice.

There are signs everywhere that people need to have their dogs on leashes, but we encountered a number of people hiking with their dogs not on a leash.

I would definitely recommend coming here!

The place is nice with pretty artwork throughout the interior and some sculptures on the exterior. They have good plays and concerts; stage is good and quality sound. The seats are comfortable with plenty of legroom, I don’t thing there are any bad seats. They have the main seating area and a balcony with a great view of the stage. There is a huge parking lot so ample parking outside.

Just saw a great show last weekend. It was well organized...easy parking, comfortable seats, sat back and enjoyed the show!

I'm spoiled. I know I am. There's no doubt. I'm used to quiet beaches with lots of space.

For people living in the area this beach is no doubt a gem. For me though, it has too many people, you can hardly move with all the arms and legs strewn about.

Parking required crossing a busy street of two way traffic including work trucks and semis.

If I had small children I would avoid this beach unless there was 1:1 supervision with another adult to manage the cooler.

As a person without kiddos I'd avoid the beach as it's too full of people and that's just not so much my thing.

If I had to drive to a beach, this one isn't it.

We walked all through the park today. It's pretty and great exercise. It wasn't raining and the sun was shining on the water and flowers. It was a great day for all. Enjoy this park. It's beautiful.

Nice, clean beach with concessions. There's also an area for children to play as well as boats to rent. What I like best is the area around the beach where you can walk or bike. Beautiful walking area in the fall too!

Adventure Rock

We took a short trip to Milwaukee, our 10 year old son loves indoor rock climbing and he wanted to do that over Spring Break. We found Adventure Rock and went two times over 3 days. The staff is knowledgeable, trustworthy and kind. The rock climbing can be done in several rooms and various degrees of difficulties. They had many auto-belays and a couple of caves for bouldering. We arrived late morning, early afternoon on weekdays and it was not crowded. Hubby and sons all climbed and loved it. Very nice gym, wish there were more of these gyms.
During our mini vacation we climbed at Adventure Rock, skated on the olympic oval at the Pettit, rode the indoor mountain bike trails at Ray's. Of those activities our 10 year old loved Adventure Rock the best!

I come here often to run the trails, xc ski groomed trails in the winter (when it snows), mountain bike the designated bike trails, or just take a walk. There is a dog park, a swimming pond, sand volleyball, and at least 5 reservable pavilions. Like all the Waukesha parks there is a fee to enter, or just buy the annual pass.
