Come visit Stratford Hall, home of the Lees of Virginia. Tour the Great House with one of our knowledgeable guides or tour at your own pace with a self-guided tour. After you've viewed the Great House take a stroll around our beautiful property. Explore the beaches, cliffs, hiking trails, mill and more. Come stay a night in one of our guest houses.
Had reservations at Belle Grove Plantation, with 4PM as the earliest we could check in. So they recommended we visit Stratford Hall since we would have time. Sure glad they did. The Foundation has done a great job on restoration (it is continuing).
Tour price very reasonable given the high quality of the guide & tour itself.
History of the Lee family very interesting.
Great stop.

The Hague Winery Award winning wines in an historic setting. Open 11am-5pm Firday, Saturday and Sunday through April ist Relax under the pergola overlooking the vineyard. Enjoy cheese and crackers, or bring your picnic lunch
We enjoyed our visit and gathered information on the history of the Winery. Top end wines. Not exactly our type of wine, but was impressed enough to buy two bottles. Very easy to find off of the main highway, but not signed very well. Slow down before you get to Hague, or you will miss it.

Menokin was the home of Francis Lightfoot Lee, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, and his wife, Rebecca Tayloe Lee.At Menokin, you can experience an 18th century house like never before. You can view, touch and feel its internal make-up as over 80% of the parts and pieces of this collapsed house still exist. We invite everyone to become part of the process as The Menokin Foundation endeavors to restore this National Historic Landmark in a revolutionary way using original fabric and architectural glass. We will also stretch our lens back over time to reveal how this house was built, how and why it fell down, and how The Menokin Foundation has made remarkable strides to preserve and interpret what remains.Admission Fee: Entrance to the grounds and visitor's center: free. Guided tour inside the ruin: $10 per person.
The drive to Menokin is well worth it. The home of Francis Lightfoot Lee is a marvelous study in American, Virginia, and Northern Neck history, its residents, architecture, and lifestyle. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and their enthusiasm is contagious! The future of Menokin appears bright with the glass house surround just a few dollars away. You won't be sorry you've made the trip.

Welcome to Vault Field Vineyards, located on historic Vault Field Farm in the heart of Virginia's Northern Neck. Our award winning wines are the result of a marriage between an exceptional terroir and the latest techniques in viticulture. At Vault Field we believe fine wines are made in the vineyard. The care of the vines is yearlong, starting with hand pruning during winter months. Next comes hand weeding and continued pruning during the growing season. Finally, in late fall, when the grapes ripen, we hand pick and sort the individual grapes to produce high quality, premium wines. ALL OF OUR WINES ARE PRODUCED AND BOTTLED ON SITE AND 95% OF WHAT WE BOTTLE IS FROM OUR OWN, VAULT FIELD, GRAPES.
I've been to dozens of wineries and not all are large. But you look for redeeming qualities that stick out that makes a winery special and gives you a reason to return. I'm sorry to say that I could not find anything special about Vault Field.
The wine tasting cost $5 for a taste of five wines.
The best thing I can say is that the tasting room is clean. But without public restrooms it makes me wonder if providing tastings is just an after thought to the business.

When our family went to see our niece perform in THE FANTASTICKS in Callao, I had no idea what kind of theater to expect. We had been told that the theater was small, but had heard nothing of the qualities; stylish Art Deco décor, bar and food available during intermission, the nicest ladies room that I've seen in any theater, comfortable seats with an excellent view of the stage, fine sound and lighting systems. Also, the performance itself was professionally done; that includes acting, choreography, orchestra pit...small for this show, vocals, set and props.

My husband and I both serve as docents in this little museum, so that is my full disclosure. However, after years of working there, most visitors are astonished by the quality and quantity of our exhibits. Some are permanent, others change. We have an excellent curator, and experts are available to help with genealogy, family history, etc.come see us! Admission is free, although donations are welcome but not expected.

As we drove up to the tasting building, my wife's reaction was "ugh, not another one of these old wineries". The fact was, it wasn't that old (5yrs), it was just somewhat plain. But inside, with lots of tables and space, and white "Christmas lights" everywhere, it looked like a fun place. The guy who did our tasting couldn't have been nicer or more knowledgeable. And the wines were pretty good. He explained they routinely do game nights, have live music, and do other fun events. They also have some food items. This is definitely a place we could come back and spend some time.

We visited the winery today and bought several bottles of wine. The wine is good and the tasting room is nice, but the location needs some TLC. We will visit again.

While in the town don't miss the Tappahannock Art Gallery. Contains the work of many talented artists. Spend an hour browsing the many varied works of art. The Gallery displays and offers for sale paintings, photography, hand carved chairs, decorative tiles, cards, and many other objects of art.

Made a Saturday tee time irrespective of the forecast. Teed off in a drizzle and were the only two on the course for much of the round which made for a quick and enjoyable round. Course is in great shape and not terribly challenging so it's a good round for average golfers. Sits right on the river so the bugs are plentiful; BRING SOME KIND OF BUG PROTECTION. Well worth the greens fees. Definitely recommend.
