I bought a day’s pottery course for my wife’s birthday and it was brilliant. Sarah was knowledgeable, attentive and tolerant of our inexperience (we’d never thrown a pot before - well my wife had 59 years ago but that doesn’t count). She really gave us confidence and I can’t believe the quality of pots, cups, bowls, plates and vases we produced (17 in total!) I can’t wait to go back in a week to pick them up after they’ve been fired

The Vale and Downland Museum is located in the busy market town of Wantage in Oxfordshire, UK. The museum has been nationally acclaimed as an outstanding example of community partnership. The range of services is very broad ranging, from galleries interpreting the cultural heritage of the Vale of White Horse region, to a cafe with a delightful terrace and garden. It also acts as a springboard for residents and visitors to enjoy and appreciate the countryside around Wantage.
Went here with family friends to have a warm chocolate during the Wantage Dickensian Evening in 2019. Really lovely place! Run by volunteers and what a great job they do. Also nice to see the little shop still running. Will try the museum at the back next time I'm there as I know it's been renovated.

Our first time here for Sunday lunch, but it won’t be our last. Really good food, very friendly service and a good selection of drinks, including free chilled water on the bar. Very quick service, large portions too.

Whilst the children won’t say that it was better than Disneyland there is a certain charm in this old Sarsen Stone. Explanatory leaflet for sale alongside for 20p. (All monies go to up keeping church fabric ‘ Just on the RHS coming down Blowing Stone Hill with parking space opposite. Maybe best to not blow into stone in these infectious times , Carry on down the hill cross the x roads and 400 yards along is the spectacular church of St John the Baptist in Kingston Lisle village. Fully refurbished this C12 church is wonderful with medieval wall paintings , C16 woodwork and Victorian stained glass. a beautiful serene space (ok I’m biased as I’m Church Warden!) . The two attractions and a walk on the Ridgeway make for a great day out.

Great pub with a wide choice of ales. Bar staff are always welcoming and have a great knowledge of the different ales on offer.

Popped in for the second time today in two weeks. Awesome place, lovely atmosphere, very friendly staff, Baguettes are fantastic, freshly baked and served with loads of Nachos. Not the cheapest in town but excellent value and by far the best surroundings.

Very nice walk around on a nice day but can be very dark at night. Normally walk through this on the way home from town and lovely to walk through the woodland and hear the animals and birdsong.

Just a minute’s walk from Wantage’s town centre, The Beacon is a vibrant gathering place for the local community, offering a varied programme of live events from cinema, music, theatre and comedy, to a regular timetable of classes & our Coffee Shop open daily. We also offer rooms to hire for celebrations and business meetings, including our 350-seat auditorium, two studios & other function rooms.
Been to many concerts, shows and lectures here, all excellent for a local venue, Coffee shop is good.
