Consenses' exhibit is an all ages artistic journey through the senses allowing visitors to touch, smell, taste, watch, listen and interact with art using each piece as a lens through which to perceive the inner world of the artists. The Exhibit, a mere 1 minute walk from the Vineyard Haven Ferry, is a series of 6 rotating sets. Each began its life as a photograph which was then given to a musician to interpret and translate into a song, their song was interpreted by a dancer, their dance was interpreted by a poet, their poem by a painter, the painting by a perfumer, the perfume by a sculptor and the subsequent 7 piece collection by a set designer. The result of experiencing Consenses is an overall feeling of "enlightenment," empathy, excitement, appreciation, understanding and peace. Visitors are encouraged to interpret the art on display for themselves and express their own perceptions using creative centers within the exhibit. Come spend an hour or a day with us discovering the nature of your own internal process. Leave with a broader understanding of yourself, others and the world around you.

The Martha's Vineyard Museum (MVM) is a historical and cultural institution collecting art, artifacts, oral histories, documents, and photographs that help tell the stories of Martha's Vineyard from its formation as an island to the present. Founded as the Dukes County Historical Society in 1922, it was officially renamed the Martha's Vineyard Museum in 2006 to better reflect its focus on both collecting the history of the island and presenting, educating, and sharing it with the public. In 2011, MVM purchased the 1895 Marine Hospital site in Vineyard Haven and set out to transform it into a new museum. MVM made the decision to maintain ownership of part of its original Edgartown campus in order to continue to steward the historic Cooke House and create a public garden for the community. In March 2019, the Vineyard Haven site opened to the public with great fanfare and a blockbuster exhibit celebrating the island's profound influence on the work of Thomas Hart Benton.
We ended up here on a rainy day while waiting for our ferry time to go home. It was much better than we expected. The old Marine Hospital has been beautifully redone and has gorgeous views from the grounds. They had arrows for how to move through exhibits due to COVID and had plentiful hand sanitizer. All of our kids from ages 13 down to 5 enjoyed the exhibits and learned a lot about the Vineyard! We had low expectations and were pleasantly surprised. Also nice that our kids all got in for free.

There’s something unique & unusual to this lighthouse among five lighthouses in the island of Martha’s Vineyard. There’s actually people living on the premises and so cute. The only Lighthouse that we haven’t gone and seen after coming to this island for over 22 years is the one in Chappaquiddick island. We’ve gone to that island once over 15 years ago just to see the bridge where Ted Kennedy’s car fell. This lighthouse we always visit for the past 5 years. There’s so much to see here....We love this island ! Please do come n visit !
