The most popular beach resort in the country, Vina del Mar is within reach of both Santiago and Valparaiso. Vina teems with tourists during peak months December, January and February, despite Antarctic currents that make swimming a formidable prospect. Renaca is the hippest spot to sink onto the sands. The Fonck Museum and Quinta Vergara provide insights into the area's recent and ancient history, archaeology and natural history. Stroll along Avenida Peru and take in stunning ocean views.

Originally the home of the wealthy Délano family in the early 20th century, this impressive building was acquired by the local Municipal Authorities in 1985, and converted into a museum. Focus in two principal collections is a natural history department dedicated to Chile's native fauna and flora; and an archaeological department offering a permanent display related to the indigenous peoples of Northern Chile, the Aconcagua region and the Mapuche in the south of the country. The museum also houses one of the most important collections in the world related to Easter Island, including the only genuine Moai statue in the whole of continental Chile, outside in the museum garden. Guided tours are available in both Spanish and English.
You can't miss this place with the giant Moai greeting you from the outside. It has a more official title which is the Museo de Arqueología e Historia Francisco Fonck. So who is Mr. Fonck? He was a Prussian anthropologist who was quite a collector. He lived between 1830 and 1912. The first thing you see from the outside is the giant Moai which you might recognize from Easter Island. Inside, the Fonck has an excellent exhibit on the history of Chile that is infused with plenty of art by the indigenous people of South America including the Rapa Nui from Easter Island.

A Chilean mansion restored as a museum and movie theater.
Took a short tour of the restored palace conducted by a few students. Nice to see investment in the history of Chile.

Always wanted to visit Easter Island! Didn’t quite get there yet but was very thrilled to see a genuine Moai statue! I even have a replica of one in front of my house. Now I am going to plan a trip to visit Easter Island soon.

One of the main drags that hugs the ocean with breathtaking views.
Walking on Avenida Peru in Valparaíso was an awesome experience. On one side you have the Pacific Ocean with the rocky beach and on the other side there are several nice buildings lined up. Certainly would very highly recommend walking on this avenue to any tourist.

This National Monument is a nineteenth century castle that currently serves as a cultural center.
Wulff Castle looks unique in Valparaíso. It is an early 20th-century mansion built by a German trader. It offers cultural exhibits & ocean views. Certainly worth visiting.

Viewed best from high above, this working clock is made entirely of live flowers and plants.
Its said that if you take a picture here you will come back to Viña del Mar! Is located in a busy transit intersection so be careful!

The biggest and most popular beach in Vina del Mar.
This lovel beach has wonderful views from its rocky shore. The water is very cold but the beaches are beautiful. I saw a lot of sea lions (called Sea Wolfs in Chile) just hanging out there. Explore the lovely town of Renaca and its neighbor Con Con (where you'll find sand dunes to climb, and a lively shopping/eating area in the center of town). Worth a visit if you're staying along the coast!
