At the northern end of Umhlanga Promenade is the Nature Trail, the Nature Reserve. The first few hundred yards are a little underwhelming, but once walking on the walkway over the flooded pond / meadow, then things become far more interesting with bulrushes, some crowned with weaver bird nests.Further on we came across a troop of green vervet monkeys playing in the trees without a care in the world.

Umhlanga Beach is a lovely spot for daily outings with friends and family. The beach and surroundings are clean and well kept, there are lifeguards and security on patrol and overall there is a very pleasant crowd and atmosphere. I'd also recommend a walk or run along the promenade, it's a great way to exercise and enjoy fresh air right next to the ocean.
