Situated on the breathtaking Litoral Norte (north shore) of São Paulo state and straddling the Tropic of Capricorn, the town of Ubatuba is a beachcombers' and surfers' paradise. In fact, the city of 78,000 (225 kilometers northeast of the state capital) is known as the Surf Capital of São Paulo, as well as being a major sailing center. Visitors and locals have more than 100 beaches to choose from, so you've got no reason to go home without tan lines. Well, unless...

Beautiful conservation area - full of green, beautiful sea full of fish to dive and rich history of the old prison. Scientists develop work in the island to follow impact of introduced species.

Domingas Dias is hands down my favourite beach in Ubatuba (although they're all stunning).
You reach the beach by walking through a passageway from Lazaro beach. The bay is almost completely enclosed by the surrounding hills, so the water is calm and clear. Jungle meets the water on either side, and the water is so still that you can swim far out to the boulders on the left hand side of the beach to jump off.
This beach also has big trees quite close to the waterline, so you can choose to sit in the shade or the sun.
Highly, highly recommended if you are visiting this area.

You have to go to Prumirim beach and take a boat on the left side of the beach for crossing to the island (R$20,00 per person). Then you tell them what time you want to come back that they'll pick you up. The island there is no place to eat so you have to bring some foods with you. The island is wonderful, I spent the whole day there (8 am to 5pm the limit time). To get to the beach you have to go through a condo house by the br101 highway.

Praia da Fazenda is between Ubatuba and Paraty. There is little infrastructure, but the beauty of this place is the prestine states of the beach, the natural beauty and the tranquile sea as well as the very wide, flat and long beach which is great for walking, running and biking.
The sea is perfect for kids with few waves ... Almost like a swimming pool.
Bring your water and beach apparel. Bring mosquito repellent as the borrachudo mosquitos are present and vicious. That is the price you pay for such a beautiful place.

My grandparents built a house a few blocks from Sununga beach in the 50s. Since I was a baby, I've been coming to this house and to this area 2x/year (28+ years).
I spent a lot of time exploring with my grandpa and my brother. Every year, we would do the "Sete Fontes" hike with grandpa, I looked forward to this so much, as did my brother, every year.
You start by the Marina, and walk through the Marina beach- you pass through several Beaches and also walk through Mountains of rain forest on a small trail. About an hour or two later (who looks at a watch in a paradise like this?) you walk through some bushes and arrive at paradise: Sete Fontes beach.
There is one restaurant, the beach isn't very big, and it's gorgeous. Only accessible by the hike I mentioned or boat. Tours from Ilha Anchieta stop here, make sure you go during low season when the beach is all yours. If you want to be ultra adventurous you can continue walking on a rough trail and find some Waterfalls and other Beaches normally accessible only by boat too.
Ubatuba is the place of hidden treasures- I don't know what it's like coming here as a tourist, but if you can find out about the hidden treasures before coming, you'll have the most amazing trip of your life- Ubatuba is amazing. <3

Really cool place with a river that feeds into the ocean. You can chill out on an small island of sand on the river or hangout on the beach or barraca. There are a lot of people here, but nothing compared to Praia Grande. Service at the barraca nearest the river was not great, the waiters do not try very hard, we would have ate and drank more if they had been motivated. There are surf schools along the beach, I took a 2 hour lesson and it was totally tubular!! Nice beach to visit.

This is a beautiful beach. A place to go if you need to rest far away from the city. This beach is only accessible by car and it's very green and mountainous around the beach so it was perfect place for me to appreciate nature and also relax.

secluded beach, accessible by bike and on foot. It is not a trendy place, but a place to relax and enjoy the sun, sea and nature
