The folks at Raquette River Outfitters are outstanding. Sam and Ann are just very helpful and communicate very well. I've worked with a few outfitters over the years and you can tell the care these folks take in making sure their customers are taken care of. We had a great three night canoe from Long Lake to Raquette River to Tupper Lake. Of course the weather was beautiful in the fall and the leaves were just beginning to change.

Full service laundromat and drop off laundry service. Laundromat mat is open 6:00am till 9:00pm everyday Donut Shoppe offering fresh donuts and coffee, bagels all day. Open 7 days a week
Delicious little cake fried donuts and made to order, so they're super fresh. The frosting (I think buttercream) is so delicious and I love all the flavor varieties. My personal favorites out of the half dozen we got were the vanilla buttercream with peanuts and the maple frosted. My husband enjoyed the cookies and cream and blueberry frosted most! Plus, there is a little gift shop attached with some great items for sale. I purchased some incense then. I wish this place was closer to our home, but I'm glad my husband and I stopped by before we headed home from our weekend away in the Adirondacks.

The Wild Center's outdoor-only experience is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The Wild Center is an 115-acre hands-on place to get all kinds of new perspectives on the wild world of the Adirondacks. It will include Wild Walk, a brand new trail across the treetops starting in the summer of 2015. The Wall Street Journal called The Wild Center "Glorious" in its review, and The New York Times called it "stunning". The Center has live animals, a wide screen theater, canoes, its own river, guides walks, tons of cutting-edge green building systems, and the only treetop walk in the Adirondacks.
This place is great for those under 80! Filled with hands on learning exhibits, it is a cross between a zoo, a nature center, a playground and a museum. Roll that all together and you have a world of fun, and education. Inside you have a world of knowledge and information in the exhibits along with river otters, fish, ducks, snakes, frogs, toads, turtles and many more. The movie theater shows 6 short clips throughout the day. The cafe was a refreshing change offering healthier fresh cooked soups, sandwiches, Mac and cheese, cookies and other fare. Outside there are trails and the wild walk which takes you up above trees teaching to along the way as you observe and interact with how animals such as spiders, birds, bears, and deer life and interact with their environment. This place is especially good for families with young children. As an added bonus the admission is good for 2 days.

The Adirondack night sky, the wilderness above, is simply spectacular! It is here that something unique is being created: the Adirondack Sky Center & Observatory. Formerly the Adirondack Public Observatory, the Sky Center has evolved into a regionally recognized center for the observation of the cosmos, and has been providing quality experiences for people of all ages through astronomy. The Board is running a fundraising campaign to allow us to establish a three-building permanent facility. In 2013, we completed the first step: the Roll-off Roof Observatory, at 178 Big Wolf Road, open as weather and staffing permit for stargazing. We also currently have an office, Gift Shop, and Classroom open daily from 10-5 at 36 High Street. Today, that journey continues. Construction has begun on a $15 million, 17,000 square foot AstroScience Center, estimated to take five years from ground clearing to completion. Please join us!

Raquette River Brewing is a local brewery producing small batch Adirondack Ales.
Anytime I have visited it has always been friendly and efficient service. It has a blend of locals and out of town visitors. A place to meet up with old friends and also make new ones! I would recommend it as a must stop on your next visit to the area.

We have the NFL ticket, so be sure to check us out during football season! While you're here, be sure to try some pizza or wings!! Our menu may be small, but the portions are large, and the food is good!!
