The place is nice, calm and relaxing, but the owners are anything but relaxing. They are rule fanatics. However if they screw up, the rules do not apply to them. We were there in plenty of time for our 6pm soak, but they did not let us into our private room until 6:10, and then kicked us out promptly at 6:50, giving us 40 min when we paid for 50. The husband is a bit of a sanctimonious forkwit who blamed his wife for the screw up. Real classy. Plus they charge extra for a crummy towel, 2$ each.

Land of Enchantment Fishing Adventures is located just off I-25 in Elephant Butte, NM near Truth or Consequences, NM. Frank is knowledgeable, helpful, and a great guy to have as your guide. He runs his business in a professional, yet casual manner. If you enjoy canine company, Frank's RR "Anchor" is a willing and capable fishing companion. He and Frank helped us to achieve the maximum benefit of our time spent fishing with them. Never a dull moment and plenty of action. Lots of fish caught while we were out. Wear appropriate clothing for fishing off a boat, and it is advisable to wear sunscreen and a hat. Bring your own drinks and snacks if desired. We fished the afternoon we arrived there, and then again the following morning. Plenty of time for a great experience!

Veterans Memorial Park

Very small town with impressive Veterans Memorial! Hats off to the Curator! He is an amazing, organized and thorough person who has amassed a great collection! I was particularly impressed with the buttons representing different wars and battles--hundreds of them meticulously mounted and documented. Even if you are not a Veteran or a war buff, this is a gift! There is no admission. The volunteer was not very helpful, but when my husband made a big effort to engage him, he opened up and was more receptive. With these kinds of places, it's all about the volunteers. They can bring a place alive and make even the dullest displays relevant. Unfortunately, this volunteer was there mainly just to keep the place open. Even that is appreciated!

There's a helicopter outside mounted high on a metal palm tree--pretty amazing!
