Lovely spot, plenty of quite tame bird life, seating, lake. Used to be water for steam trains a long time ago. One of Traralgon’s few beautiful special spots.

The Gippsland Plains Rail Trail is a 67km recreational trail following the former historic Gippsland Plains railway line route between Stratford and Traralgon. The trail passes through undulating dairy country, takes in unique regional flora and fauna, and there are a number of quintessentially Gippsland villages along the way.

Traralgon's Farmers Market is an absolute joy to attend. Held the third Saturday of the month in the town centre park Kay Street beneath age old trees it is a pleasure to meander through at your leisure. Fresh food stalls abound vegie, fruit, fish, meat, poultry, and dim sim to die for especially the home made sauce made with coriander and a hint of heat mouth watering delicious. Oh the freshly baked scones, biscuits, and cakes and the sausage sizzle provided by the local lions club is always a real treat. In season freshly squeezed orange juice and the sweetest mandarins. AND the fresh baked bread a gourmet delight. A toe tapping band is a feature and adds wonderful atmosphere to the day. Just to sit, nibble, drink coffee and watch the world pass by is so therapeutic. The fresh flower stall is a must and potted plants and trees for sale of every variety well worth a look. A not to be missed day out.
