Kasi viswanathar temple at Thenkasi is a Sivan temple (Lord Shiva) - very divine and believed to be very powerful. Temple itself is a Engineering marvel - e.g. When you walk into the temple, the wind would blow into your face and similarly even when you walk out of the temple, the wind would blow from the opposite direction into your face.. Easily accessible. Parking on the road outside the temple. Lot of small restaurants offers hygienic food around the temple. (Shorts/ Skirts, etc. not allowed)

Agasthiyar Falls

Reviewed By vgcsekar - Chennai (Madras), India

We visited Agasthiyar Falls in the middle of February. The falls is surrrounded by lush green forest and the whole place looks magical. The waterfalls is quite good with a wall dividing the men and women bathing area. Water is heavenly with lots of herbs. The force of the water is surpringly heavy though the height is around 25 ft only. The surpring thing is that all animals roam here after 5:00 p.m. so we have to leave by 4:30 p.m. In all the whole experience left me thrilled. Will definitely go back again

Kattabomman Memorial Fort

Reviewed By RajeshJeyapaul

Happy to write this comment on the day of Kattabomman Birthday today(Jan 3rd). Have visited this place many times. This time took my family and especially my son who has a book to study about Kattabomman history in his curriculum. It is a historical site and not a tourist location. About 4 KM drive from the main 4 way lane from Kurukuchallai arch in the Tuticorin-Madurai highway. Little dry drive with lots of cattles roaming around and few houses. There is a small shop outside the fort which will help you to get some snacks, water and ice cream. Rs. 2 INR is charged as entrance fee. 1) Get into the fort and understand the history through the paintings which has both Tamil and English descriptions. Replica of the fort painting available at London Muesuem is available as well. 2) Visit the old fort area, now fenced by the ASI India, to understand the attempt to rebuild the fort using jaggery in 6 days. Royal court , kitchen, some rooms and old utensils used could be visible from outside 3) Some of the mani mandapam's (Bell tower) outside the fort area are visible as well About 1 hour can be spent and can be relaxed under the tree shade for a while before returning back. MUST visit for family, kids and any history lovers. It is NOT a tourist attraction.Govt should consider improving the surrounding Garden area.

Papanasanathar Temple

Reviewed By premsathi - Bangalore District, India

Papanasam temple is constructed near the banks of thamirabharani river. The temple is part of the 1st nava kailaya temple and has imminent place in the Sivan temples. Pallaiari and palliyellu poojai's are very special here. The kovil padi thari also has been good place to take bath before entering the temple. The temple has good parking facilites and there is a bus stop dedicated to it so public transport wont be an issue.

Five Falls Courtallam

Reviewed By premsathi - Bangalore District, India

Went to the falls with my friend. It was around 8pm in the night. The falls has a seperate queue and bathing place allocated for both male and female. And the place has a good parking place also. They have improved the pathway leading up to the falls. And the place had been maintained very well and looks clean. The water falling from the five layers is the reason behind the five falls name. The placed is also secured with police men around to control the crowd or any misbehaving.
