This place is huge. Crazy selection of so many kinds of apples. Nice views from up top too! Picking your own is so much fun and the price is reasonable. They also have a small store where you can buy all sorts of homemade things including cider and pies. This place is top notch and I was told was the best orchard in Vermont!

Here, at last, is the chance to come on board the Starship Enterprise! Recreated Exactly as they were laid out on the "Desilu" (Now Paramount Pictures) Stage 9 in Hollywood for the original 1966-1968 run of STAR TREK,the sets of the Fabulous Starship U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 awaiting guests to step aboard and be transported to the world of STAR TREK: The Original Series!
Okay, I'm not a "trekkie" or "Treker" or whatever they call themselves but I really do like the original series of Star Trek. Amazingly inventive, especially for the mid 60's. Most of the stories were really good with good acting. The sets were absolutely convincing.
So I find myself in Ticonderoga and I see this place for Star Trek TOS sets. I HAVE to see these! It was amazing! I felt like I was in The USS Enterprise NCC-1701! The effort these people put forth to accurately recreate the Enterprise is beyond belief.
I sat in Captain Kirk's bridge chair! I did NOT push the button to eject the pod! Listen, if you liked Star Trek TOS, this is a MUST. If you've seen the show, you ought to go look if you're in the area. Maybe you'll become a trekkie!

A popular attraction, built by the French in 1755, that has been restored to its original condition.
Visited while traveling thru through Upstate NY - spent some time milling around the fort & went on one of the guided tours - very interesting and informative. The guide was very knowledgeable when asked questions by people during the tour. There were people at various places in period clothes going about chores that would be done at the fort during the 18th Century. Another bonus is the picturesque setting above the lake - great photo ops! There is the obligatory gift shop - which was very nice. A visit is highly recommended!

This is a unique little adventure crossing the narrows of Lake Champlain from Larrabee's Point at Shoreham, VT to Ft. Ticonderoga or visa versa. Although the sign says to 'ring for ferry', there were no attendants on land.
The ferry holds 15-18 cars on a barge. Attached to the side of the barge is a diesel tugboat. There is no helm but rather two cables which were formerly ski lift cables. These are stretched across the lake bed, anchored on either side of the 2,300-foot crossing, then passed through wheels on the underside of the ferry. They rise up to go through the wheels then sink back down to the bottom. There is no steering, just a throttle. There are only two other cable-driven ferries known to be in operation—one in Maryland and one in Canada.
The ferry crosses only in the daytime and has seasonal hours.

A trip to Mt. Defiance is a must for those visiting Fort Ticonderoga. The view from the summit is spectacular, overlooking the portage between Lakes George and Champlain. The site was vital to the British in their retaking of Fort Ticonderoga. The drive to the summit is included in the price of admission to Fort Ticonderoga and should be visited.

I wasn't holding out for a great visit as I am not a flower person. After entering the walled grounds, that thought changed. In well kept hedges, same height through out & evenly spaced are over two thousand types of flowers. Because of much rain, the colors have not fully developed. The main color is green with yellow, blues, reds & white. The walkway is brick. In the Garden's center is a statue- Lake Diana-Goddess of the Hunt-standing in a small pool.
There are three full & part-time women tending the flower's maintenance. I had a half take with one woman who showed at least ten brochures on the garden's types of flowers. Outside the Garden are three vegetable gardens-children's, garrison & upper. Two garden tours happen at 11:30 & 2:30. I counted nine picnic tables & three benches. The Garden is located about 3/8 mile from the admission booth on the left off a tree lined roadway.
A person who enjoys of countless types will enjoy a visit, which will last at most half a hour.

Worth stopping here when visiting Fort Ticonderoga and the surrounding area. The park is peaceful. Nice grounds for walking around. There's a covered bridge below the falls to get from one side of the falls to the other. Nice area for photography.

The Ticonderoga Historical Society is located in a beautiful Georgian style home at 6 Moses Circle, Ticonderoga. The building was constructed in 1926 and patterned after the Hancock House in Boston, built in the 1730's. There is a gift shop, a museum, and very helpful people who are attentive and know their history. The building is open 10-4, Wednesday-Saturday, year round. If you have an interest in history, and the time, this museum is worth a stop. The gift shop has many very interesting books at reasonable prices.

We were driving along Route 9N when we saw the sign and the big red barn.
Naturally, we stopped and entered.
We were alone and as we were wondering what to do, Craig walked in and welcomed us. Craig lives across the road and saw our car stopping.
The Lonergan's Antiques store (AKA Lonergan's Red Barn Antiques) is HUGE.
If you are antique buffs you'll need a good few hours to browse around.
The collections are amazing and varied to suit all tastes and fields of interest.
Lonergan's Antiques is a family run business and was established over 60 years ago.
It is a definite MUST when you visit the Adirondacks!!
Absolutely Amazing!!
