Three Rivers Whitewater runs 1 and 2 day trips on the Dead, Kennebec or Penobscot Rivers Daily. We use state of the art equipment and put the most time and money into training professional guide staff of any outfitter in Maine. All of our trips include home made meals that are second to none. But most importantly, our staff is here to make your trip fun. They are exceedingly friendly and take the time to make your trip what you want it to be. No request is too difficult to accomplish. If it is possible, we will do it to show you a good time. So look at the different trips we have to offer, gather your friends or family and join us for some serious fun!
50 year old female. First time whitewater rafter. Rafted the Penobscot with family and friends through Three Rivers Whitewater, Inc. in late August (cool day). Rented their wetsuit gear and cover jacket and did not regret it. Water was warm but the air was chilly when the sun went behind clouds and the gear kept me nice and warm. Every person in the company was professional, pleasant, and informative from my very first phone call, through registration, check in, renting and fitting equipment, safety talk, rafting, lunch, rafting again and returning equipment. Our guide Tyler was funny, personable, genuine, and most importantly clear and efficient in his directions out there on the water. He knew just when to give you a heads up and prepared us beforehand about what we could expect and what we should do in certain circumstances. He made it easy for us to be a cohesive team, important out there on the water.
Our family and friends had a great time. Treasured memories. And we are all talking about planning an overnight trip next spring, inviting more friends and family to join in on the fun. We will request Tyler again next year for our boat, but from what I saw on our trip any and all of the guides were quite pleasant and knowledgeable. I would feel comfortable going with any of them.
Oh and I wanted to mention the flow of the day. From start to finish everything and everyone was organized and smooth flowing. Bus rides, transition points and especially lunch I was impressed with. They've done this a few times before! They made lunch look effortless for all of those people. And the food was really good!

My wife & I went with 3 of our children 13, 15 & 16. My wife and children were all
Nervous but they quickly were released of all their fear by the happy smiling faces here. The check in was relatively easy. The only complaint and it's not really an issue was that they don't tell you that cotton t-shirts aren't advised or flip flops. This caused me an additional $40 in expenses. Again, I'm not complaining because it was well worth it. The bus driver even made the trip fun with his jokes. We went down the Kennebec at 4900CFS. The rapids were big enough for excitement but not too scary for the kids. Chris was our guide and he was very friendly. The ride took approx. 3 hours and we had plenty of time to swim & enjoy the beautiful sceneries Maine has to offer.

Maine's fun, safety-conscious, value-priced whitewater outfitter on the Kennebec and Dead Rivers, offering trips May 1 to Columbus Day. Magic Falls base facility offers a campground with tent sites and cabin tents, a lodge with king, queen and bunk rooms (ADA room) and a restored farmhouse sleeping 16 for family groups who wish to have all the comforts of home. The base has the area's only outdoor climbing wall along with changing rooms and showers, half court basketball, volleyball, recreation pavilion and complimentary float tubes. Magic Falls is famed for its overnight "outback adventure" that include rafting, a hike to Moxie Falls, wildlife safari, tent camping and campfire meals. Magic Falls was the first to offer a double run of the upper Kennebec Gorge for action-packed adventurers and an upper gorge 1/2 day morning trip called "Cheap Thrills"
My 12-yo daughter and I had a great time rafting with these guys the other day. Dave and the others all seemed to take safety very seriously which was my biggest concern as I had rafted before with less safety conscious outfits in TN and OR. If I had a complaint, it would be that the excitement of the trip (the exciting rapids) come within the first 30-45 minutes so it is a little anticlimactic. However, they run as good of a tour as they can given the nature of the river, and provide lots of opportunities in the second half of the trip to get in the water and float.

Five Star ⭐️review for Crab Apple! The pamphlet my husband and I picked up on a rainy day in Kennebunkport lead to a lovely phone conversation with one of the owners/founders, Sharyn. She was like talking to an old friend. The information she provided helped us in making plans for a day to remember. My husband and I took our children, my nephew and friends on an adrenaline pumped trip down the Kennebec River! Mo, our ridiculously strong and competent guide made the experience. We'd request him for all future rafting excursions for sure! To top of the day -- dinner. Dinner was far more than what any of us expected. After a hot shower and a change of clothes, we feasted!! Steaks & chicken, salads and beverages ... the blueberry cake!!! Hats off to this family and their business. Worth every penny and then some. Oh, and the hand-written Thank You card from Mo was hands down classy. ALL ages will enjoy this, and I mean ALL because we had ALL on this trip. Great videos & photos to purchase *see attached. We'll be back, yearly!

This was our second year rafting the Penobscot. Another exciting day. Ted was our guide and he made it very enjoyable! This river is so fun and exciting--as soon as we are done rafting we start talking about coming back again! The Abol Bridge Campground is so beautifully situated on the River and facing the Katahdin Mountain~camping there is great.
All in all, we will keep coming back to raft the Penobscot with Northern Outdoors~the river, the guides, the lunch, the after rafting at the Pavilion, the camping at Abol are all top notch! It's a long ride from home but it is worth the trip!!

We are a small outfitter that specializes in personalized wilderness adventures, including whitewater rafting on the Kennebec and Dead Rivers; inflatable kayak trips; mountain biking; overnight trips; and guided fishing and hunting trips in and around The Forks region.
The experience we had with Dead River Expeditions went so far above and beyond our expectations, not everything will fit in this review. Our group booking was all done in email and every question/concern each of us had was addressed same day. The price paid per person surely did not cover all of the time, effort, equipment and food we were welcome to enjoy. There were homemade treats on the river and a delicious personalized, homemade BBQ dinner at the end of the trip. The dinner at the end of the trip was much more enjoyable than eating on the river. The whole DRE team makes you feel at home and welcome to have fun and be yourself from beginning to end. It was a very full day from 9:30am-4pm. Our guide was very patient to put up with us and even say he had a good time! Every team member we interacted with at this facility was easy going with a great sense of humor. We can’t say Bosch was the best guide because it would be unfair to the others we didn’t get to meet BUT he is AWESOME and we would not hesitate to invite him on our next adventure. He was a great addition to our group; so much fun!!!

Camped here with a paddling club and had a great weekend. Clean, well-kept, affordable. My campsite next to the river was great; friends who stayed in the cabins loved them too. Restaurant and bar are very convenient if you don't want to cook. Atmosphere among the campers was relaxed and convivial but never rowdy. We brought our own boats but used Riverdrivers' shuttles to the Dead River put-in, then paddled right back to the campground--a luxury at the end of a long, exciting day. Looking forward to coming back!

My husband and I were out cruising on the bike and decided to stop for supper. What a fantastic meal! Chris the bar tender was very friendly and suggested the pulled pork special with roasted apples. It was to die for! We have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. They grow fresh veggies and smoke their own meats. They also have bands on Saturday night! We will be back for sure!

We rented three UTV's for a half day guided ride since we were new to the area. Our guide took us on some awesome trails, everything from gravel roads, thick vegetation, rocks, and running creek beds. We have ATV's of our own and have rented ATV's and UTV's in many states and this was the best trails and guide we have ever experienced. Be prepared to have a $1,000 per machine charge put on your credit card to cover the damage deposit. It will be credited within three days but when you rent three machines that is $3,000. The equipment was in good condition, especially considering the trails they are used on. Many of the other places we have been keep you on graded trails, private land or driving through fields, They let you run as fast as your comfortable as long as you show you know how to handle the vehicles. We spent a week in Maine with most of that time in Acadia, Bar Harbor area and this was the best part of the week. It is about 2 1/2 hours away but well worth the drive. They even set us up with showers, soap, and towels after the ride. Since it became a challenge to see who could get the wettest and dirtiest that was a life saver for the ride back to the coast. Bring dry clothes and prepare for some of the best trails you will ever ride. We plan to stay a few days at the lodge next time so we can see more great trails.
