Sibelius Hall is located by the beautiful Lake Vesijarvi. Sibelius Hall is a congress- and concert center that offers diverse services for both consumers and companies. Sibelius Hall was built in 2000 adjacent to an old factory building. The modern wooden architecture is combined with the old industrial history in the most interesting way.
I was here in a concert. The music hall is pleasant and you are near the performers. The entrance hall is an interesting mixture of a brick wall and wooden architecture. The coffee and pastries were quite expensive during the break. Free parking.

Häme Castle is one of Finland's medieval royal Castles. It is believed to have been built at the end of the 13th century, following the crusade by Swedish Earl Birger to Häme region. During the Middle Ages the original fortified camp was built into a residential castle for its commandant. In the 18th century a third storey was built and curtain wall buildings partly replaced the original outer walls. The castle and its surroundings were in prison use from 1837 to 1972. The main castle is now presented as a historical monument. The Häme Castle and its redbrick barracks are on the shore of Lake Vanajavesi. The promontary has been a meeting place for centuries, and the walls almost echo the voices from the Middle Ages.
A stopped into Hameenlinna with some Finnish mates to visit this castle. WOW, The castle is like every other castle, but what makes it different is the little interactive activities. They are simple and fun. Plus you fantastic explanations in Finnish and English (from booklet) about each item and room. This was a joy to visit. If you have kids, they will be thoroughly entertained.

As a former officer and a tank lover I was extremely surprised to find such a great collection of rare tanks in Finland. Most of the tanks are pre-war built, so it is extremely to find them in these days. The majority of military vehicles are Soviet and German production lines with a few "hand made" Finnish tanks, which were successful enough also.

The Finnish Glass Museum has operated since 1981 in a former glassworks building converted into a museum designed By Tapio Wirkkala, academic and world-famous Finnish designer. The former glassblowing facility and the third floor of the museum are reserved for temporary Finnish and international Exhibitions of the history and present state of glass and design.
The museum gives an interesting insight on the history of glass-making in Finland - in addition to which it has a huge display of Finnish glass objects from part to present!
In addition to the basic exhibition and collections, there are often good temporary Exhibitions on Finnish glass designers as well as contemporary glass art on display.

Museo esittelee suomalaisen lasiteollisuuden historiaa kiinnostavalla tavalla. Museon lasiesineiden kokoelma on myös vaikuttava: suomalaista lasia menneisyydestä nykypäiviin asti: niin taidelasia kuin käyttöesineitäkin. Lisäksi vaihtuvia näyttelyitä.

Nicely set large collection of well-preserved locomotives and wagons, including the imperial train of Russian Emperor. Would have been nice to be allowed to enter some of them. My daughter who typically complains about visiting museums was difficult to get out from this one.

Vääksy Canal Area (Vääksyn kanava) is situated in Vääksy (the main conurbation of Asikkala), only 0.5-1 kilometers from the Highway 24 between Lahti and Padasjoki. It is an ideal resting place for all motorists. There are several nice summer cafeterias, small handicraft shops, green parks, interesting museums (especially the fishing museum in Päijännetalo House), old houses etc. there. I love this place!
