We toured the lake, both on the east side and again on the north side, saying next to the shore line when the road permitted. Many parks, beautiful places to walk, and scenery for the camera. Each trip took about1/2 a day. Well worth the time.

This course is unusual for Florida in that it has lots of topography...hills. Several tees are elevated as are greens. The course was built in 1917 so they must have used ploughs and horses and followed the contours of the land. There seems to be...MoreThank you for your review of El Campeon golf course! I visited Mount Dora this past Dec.2017. First time there. Great place for family and relaxation. If you love history, antiques, great food from around the world, this is a great place to visit. It is small town just 2 hours north of Orlando. We went during Christmas which is the best time to go. The decorations are out of this world. There is Sea food, French food, German, Mexican, Cuban and American. It is a melting pot of cultures. There are actuall hills in the roads that is a rare site in Florida. Many antiques shops and museum. Mount dora Lake is very popular. You can take a 2 hour tour all around the lakes and the canals. You can see the beautiful homes and many wild life. Even bald Eagles nesting if you look up in the trees. Must visit the museum of speed if you want to go back in time. If you love cars as my son does, this will take your breath away. The actual owner give you the tours if you want. Great stories and history of how thing were. Driving time from Miami 6.5 hours. There are many beautiful Inns and suites in the Mount Dora Town which are a little pricing. But you can get a hotel in 441 which is 5 to 10 min away for a very reasonable price including breakfast. Must go to Reginers frea Market. You can find anything and everything. We spent around $300 worth of collectibles and antiques. Happy vacation

This is a beautiful park that is well-maintained, right on Lake Eustis. There are lots of benches and even on a hot and humid day, a long chat on a bench under a tree and by the water was very comfortable with the shade and a breeze off the lake. Places for kids to play, an outdoor theater, lots of walking paths.

The historic Howey Mansion is an architectural gem. Tours are offered daily and can be booked as a wedding and events venue. The brothers who restored it are locals and have a passion for sharing it with the public.

Perfectly designed for a great day outdoors. Amenities are ample and well maintained. The center of the park is a giant, two story, screened pavilion. Beautiful architecture and can accommodate up to 275 people. Surrounded by outdoor picnic areas with grilles, and several restrooms. Located on Little Lake Harris, there are 12 boat ramps, tons of boat docks, and a huge fishing pier. There's even a sand beach with swimming access in the lake. Activities include a playground, beach volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, and my favorite.. A mile long nature boardwalk & trail. Nicely laid out, zigzagging along the lakeshore. Beautiful park with 24 hour access, and all for FREE! My hat goes off to Lake County Water Authority for a job well done.
Highly recommended!
Pets are not allowed in the park and for good reason. While I was there I came across a big gator snacking on someone's little dog. Nature is fascinating but cruel at times.

Our friends took us here for the day when we were visiting. Be prepared to walk. There are vendors galore here. If you can find what you are looking for it doesn't exist. There is a antique center here and also a flea market. It totally boggles the mind. Food vendors as well, so you don't have to leave to eat and come back. The vendors that we spoke to were very friendly. Actually bought a few things, they were eager to barter. It was a great day and we enjoyed it very much.....

The city of Tavares has done a wonderful job restoring this little park. They put in new bathroom facilities, a pavilion with picnic table and grill, and added several more park benches and picnic tables. The best part is the swinging benches right on the Dora Canal. Great place to relax and watch the boaters cruise the canal or just enjoy the wildlife. Excellent for picnics. Definitely worth a visit.
