This is a disappointing botanic garden, it is a random collection of scrubs, hardly any explanation or structure whatsoever, not even pretty to look at. May be OK for the uni students but nothing special for visitors.

Lake Colbun is one hour drive from Talca, the regional capital of Maule. If you there in the region, this is one place that you would want to visit and make a picnic. A place to go with family and spent some few hours relaxing peacefully. The water level has gone down very badly stripping out a bit of nature's vestment. Still worth visiting.

Talca is a very interesting Chilean medium size city, very important for the independence of Chile from the Spanish crown. Settled in 1742 as Villa San Agustín de Talca, it grew organically from its main square. The Plaza de Armas is actually the hearth of the city. Very interesting to contact a local tour guide that provides a very interesting city tour of Talca, starting in Plaza de Armas. Telling about the history and evolution of the city, visiting Club Talca, one of the oldest men´s club in Chile and some other special stories of the origin and development of Talca.

The St Augustine Cathedral was a replacement for the Church destroyed in the Earthquake of 1928. The 2010 Earthquake resulted in considerable structural damage, as it did to many buildings in Talca. That restoration took several years to complete and is what we see today. There is nothing particularly outstanding about the Cathedral and perhaps that is best as they are more for what happens inside rather than the structure itself. A dominant figure on the west side of the Plaza de Armas.

Si se encuentra en el centro de Talca, cercano a la Plaza de armas, y desea tomarse una pausa para tomar un café o almorzar esta es una buena opción, buena ambientación y distintos locales comerciales para su elección.

We passed it several times and only when I caught sight of the Mercado Central Sign on the side street did we finally locate the Market. Even the main street signs are folded over. Inside the Market has small foodies / eateries on one side the remaining 3 sides consists of vegetables and crafts with 1 or 2 herbal shops. As Central Markets go in SA this one was a disappointment.

Don't miss the wineries on this excellent tour, either by driving yourself or arranging a half or full day tour. These are some of the most productive wineries in Chile, and their wine is fabulous--probably because the grapes are grown in the RIGHT terroir for their types. This area is northern Italy or Napa Valley, but in the southern hemisphere. Be sure to stop...and to spend a day on the old "ramal" narrow gauge train from Talca to Constitucion...built in 1961, it still runs the same route through the hacienda/vineyard country between the regional capitol and the coast, passing through the coastal foothills and amazing country alongside the Maule River, where the train is the main transportation access for the area residents. Enjoy the wine and the place...and above all, the people!

A good representation of the region , the explanation of the guide made all the difference. Rich history. The best wines are very accessible .Good PQR . When drinking the icon wine back at home, the house details, the local vineyard with its little tower, will all comeback
