Ahhhhh, the crystal bed is amazing. Between the toasty amythyst bed that vibrates, to the beach sounds, to the energy from the crystals I completely melted into that bed. Totally relaxed with no tention left in my body. And that afternoon's meditation was the deepest I have had in years, since I was on a meditation retreat! I will definitely be using this on a regular basis to maintain that sence of physical relaxation and ability to more deeply meditate.

Part of the Longfellow Wayside Inn, a National Historic Site, this is a replica of an early 1740s grist mill that is still used for grinding grains for use and sale at the Inn.
This has to be THE most interesting local place to roam. There are ponds, a small garden & lovely places to sit & reflect.

Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge encompasses 3.5 square miles located within the towns of Hudson, Maynard, Stow and Sudbury, which is approximately 20 miles west of Boston. The refuge has a large wetland complex, several smaller wetlands and vernal pools, and large forested areas which are important feeding and breeding areas for migratory birds and other wildlife. It also has 15 miles of trails (half are open to biking) open to the public for the enjoyment of nature as well as a visitor center located on Winterberry Way. Our primary purpose is to manage these lands for migratory bird conservation. The refuge is one of eight national wildlife refuges that comprise the Eastern Massachusetts National Wildlife Refuge Complex. The refuge is open daily from sunrise to sunset and the visitor center is open Sat-Sun 10am to 4pm.
We usually hike in Gardner Hill Land Town Forest in Stow. Beautiful trail with spectacular views of Assabet river! It is a very easy, relatively flat loop around 1.6 miles long. Ample parking is a definite advantage. The tranquil trail is so colorful now; yellow and red leaves reflecting in the bright green water of Assabet River are absolutely gorgeous. And there are so many graceful white swans... This lovely refuge is only 7 miles away from our house. So happy to find yet one more treasure of beautiful New England right around the corner.

A mere 40 minutes from Boston this place is magical. From the grist mill and chapel to the Longfellow's historic Wayside Inn, this is the perfect weekend visit or overnight at the inn. Book lunch or dinner at the inn. So many family photos taken here. Beautiful weddings. Memorable if it is a day or an event.

We visited the Grist Mill on a Saturday afternoon. This place is absolutely beautiful. The building and grounds are well maintained and beautiful everywhere you look, I would recommend making a visit here. Beautiful and educational.

A very pretty refuge near the river. There is a boardwalk that is accessible to people in wheelchairs and has benches with only one arm. Many trails connect with the walks here, so that people who go to Great Meadows can walk for minutes or hours. The refuge is pristine, without any litter. I have been here in all seasons and always been taken aback by the beauty.
