This is a newer facility with only being open since the new year, but it is amazing! Constantly seeing improvements made and the staff is extremely friendly. Great resources offered, the weight room is really nice to use, and and climbs are always fun. I recommend this place to all of my friends.

The 26-acre Stone Zoo is home to incredible animals, including snow leopards, Mexican gray wolves, North American river otters and more.
We visited the Stone Zoo for the first time today. It is small, but the variety of animals is excellent. You won't find the largest wild animals (no lions, tigers, giraffes), but there are snow leopards, black bears, alligators, flamingos and more. It is clear that the zoo is investing in improvements and cares that visitors have a good experience. There were docents near various exhibits with extra information, and sometimes props. The zoo's footprint is fairly small, and the exhibits are fairly close to each other. This makes it easy to see a lot in a short time, or perhaps, for small children. A few exhibits are very large, but if you skip them, you can minimize the walking. I had pre-arranged for part of our group to take a private, behind-the-scenes Sloth Tour to celebrate our daughter's 16th birthday. The tour is limited to four people because the exhibit wouldn't realistically hold more and still have the sloths visible, since it happens in the exhibit, so the feeding is part of the exhibit. It was great that the rest of the group could watch, even though we couldn't participate. Katie, our Educator, was fantastic. She shared lots of information and answered our endless stream of questions. It was a wonderful surprise, and the sloths were more than willing to eat the sweet potatoes and grapes as offered (not a guarantee). Overall, we had a great visit. Even with the 30 minute sloth tour, we were still able to see the whole zoo in just three hours. It was nice to be in zoo with a clear focus on the animals (not souvenirs or food, though both were sold in small amounts).
Walk-ins are always welcome! Create personalized art that will bring memories for a lifetime! We welcome all ages and skill levels to come, relax, and enjoy the creative process of painting your own pottery.
