Glover's Reef Marine Reserve

Reviewed By lorieeaston49

Lots of beautiful coral and great visibility with snorkeling at relatively shallow depths. We saw nurse sharks and lots of colorful fish. Kids loved it and we felt safe and confident with the crew and trip. Boat ride on the way out was smooth, but choppy on the way back (maybe the winds shifted)... so take dramamine if you get sea sick. Overall a great morning on the water. Great for taking underwater pics too if you have a waterproof camera.

Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Preserve

This reserve was established to help protect the endangered jaguar and other species native to Belize.

Reviewed By WanderSpy

We thoroughly enjoyed our day trip to Cockscomb Basin, with a short hike in to swim at the waterfalls and then a relaxing tube down the lazy river in the jungle. Our guide, Benedicto Choc from the Maya Center Village, was extremely knowledgeable about the area, pointing out various native flora and sharing local Mayan lore. He can also tell you where to spot toucans and would be an excellent guide for birdwatching or hikes in to Victoria Peak. Thank you for a great day!

Laughing Bird Caye National Park

Reviewed By WRG25 - Charlotte, United States

Naia resort arranged snorkeling trip to Laughing Bird Caye for group of guests. the Caye is one of 400+ small islands that populate the offshore area along Belize's barrier reef. Tour guide "Mo" was deeply knowledgeable about the coral breeding and restoration project that she is helping. Island shelters the snorkeling area so we were protected on day when winds were 10-15+ mph. On our two ~1 hour snorkel tours we encountered schools of snapper, several barracuda, a nurse shark, large Caribbean lobster, parrot fish, stingray, etc. Guides cooked BBQ chicken lunch on the open grills that are on the small island. Encountered pod of dolphins on ride back to town - including juveniles. Great experienace that was about 45 min boat ride from the town of Placencia.

Lola's Art Gallery

Lola's has the coolest art. Beautiful bright colors that really represent a talented eye and hand. Catch a cab or ride up to her place and check it out. We saw there are also special dinners there too, but didn't get the chance to check it out. We love out wooden plaque with a colorful cat on it.

Placencia Municipal Pier

The Placencia Municipal Pier was gifted to the residents of Placencia Village to give villagers a place to enjoy the beauty of the Placencia Harbour as well as to boost economic growth of the village. In the pier area you can find gift shops, tour centers, local artisans, restaurants etc.

We walk up by the pier dozens of times a day. Check out the incoming fishing boats and outgoing adventure seekers. Play a game of chess on the picnic tables as you watch the dolphins. Grab a drink from the Frosty shack that has crazy coconuts and more.

Art n Soul Gallery

Reviewed By windiheaton - Marin County, United States

I was so glad to find this unique gallery. I stayed in a condo in Placencia that had the art of Nelson Young, that intrigued me and found many of his paintings at Art and Soul. It’s a small gallery and if you are really interested in purchasing some lovely art visit several times and ask the owners to brings things out to look at them in the light. You will be surprised at the beauty of many of these pieces once you see them with good light. Greta was more then happy to bring things out and discuss the art. It was a pleasure to meet the gallery owners and enjoy the art there as well as bring home a beautiful piece that the owners packaged up for me perfectly.

LOVED our zipline experience here! The staff (Jonathan and Fernando) were exceptional--profession, kind, and a good dose of humor to calm our nerves. Super safe and incredibly fun. The river rafting after the zipline was a really fun way to see the jungle and experience the river (easy, relaxing tube for all our family).
