The Narrows

Zion's most popular hiking trail is also its most dangerous due to occasional flash floods.

Reviewed By NeoNorth

There is a reason why this magical place is highly recommended in the hiking community. This hike is an incredible blend of beautiful views, adventure hiking through the river, and fun!

If in the Zion area, I would highly recommend checking this hike out.

Tip: Depending on the time of year, waterproof pants/shoes would be recommended. Just went this past March and saw some people hiking in just shorts and running shoes, but their legs were blue/purple.

Tip 2: Check the weather forecast. There are flash floods that are very dangerous and you don't want to be stuck in that canyon when that happens. There is not much to climb up or places to escape if that happened.

Tip 3: Get familiar with the map and landmarks so you can plan accordingly.

Tip 4: This goes for any hike, but make sure to bring your 10 essentials (ie. first aid, bivy, etc.)

Tip 5: Go with a friend and have a great time!

Overall, I would highly recommend to a friend and would come back again if in town.

Zion Canyon Scenic Drive

A popular drive within Zion National Park.

Reviewed By Yehbut - Santa Monica, California

This is a great National Park to visit and well worth the drive. Note that you can not ride the shuttle inside Zion for extended views of the park if you have your pets with you. Only one trail is accessible for pets. This is never the less a cool drive back in time with great history. Each and every corner you go around is as grand as the next. Zion has a special feel about it that lets you know you are in a special place! There are many hiking trails and pull offs. They also have camping and places to bring your RV. Spectacular views and non stop exploration there is a little something about this place that draws people here time and time again! Wonderful time in nature in a grand place!

Canyon Overlook Trail

This one-mile hiking trail starts just outside the east entrance to the Zion-Mt Carmel Tunnel, and leads to a dramatic observation point that provides impressive views of Zion's rugged landscape.

Reviewed By iu92 - Bloomington, Indiana

This is a hike with a beautiful view in Zion. There was only one small section where the footing could have been dicey; otherwise, I felt safe on the trail. It is worth about 30 minutes of hiking to see the gorgeous view at the end.

There are two parking lots (one on each side of the road) and both have a limited number of spaces. We arrived around 9 AM and were able to find a space. If you are wanting to hike later in the day, there could be issues with parking.

Zion National Park

Reviewed By Peter K - Hurricane, Utah

Zion canyon is beautiful, however, the construction on the only road through Springdale into the park, coupled with the long wait times in the park took the fun out of our 4/4/18 and 4/5/18 visit.
I suggest not visiting ZION until the road construction is done (mid May 2018?).
Otherwise expect a 30 to 40 min. wait getting through town, a 15 to 30 minute wait to get through the gate and 30 to 70 minute waits to get on a shuttle bus.
We enjoyed Bryce Canyon , Lower Antelope canyon in Page AZ. and Snow Canyon in St. George much more than Zion, great views and less crowded.

Zion Shuttle

The mandatory shuttle leaves from the visitors center and travels six miles through the most popular canyon road, with seven stops in between.

Reviewed By Paintyhands - Sheridan, Wyoming

Whether you're planning several days of exploring Zion, or, like us, only had a few hours and were unable to the hikes, the shuttle is a must- the only way to get to the major trailhead unless you prefer walking many extra miles. The buses have bike racks for cyclists. They stop at each of around 8 stops. You can get off and on as needed. Buses are said to run every 8 minutes, but we never waited longer than about 4 minutes. If you choose to simply ride the whole route, it's said to be 40 minutes, but it's quicker depending on how many people are boarding at stops. Photos from the bus are near impossible because of the glare from the sunrooves. The shuttle is free with your park entrance, $30/car..

This gallery has a lovely selection of ceramic and kinetic artists and painters. We enjoyed browsing through the gallery during our visit in Zion National Park, which is just a few miles away. The visitor center at the park also has a nice art gallery with images of the beautiful Zion are natural scenery. The pottery is mostly from regional artists. Very nice selection of treasures and they ship!
