This was the destination for our long weekend to The Woodlands, TX.
It was easy making reservations via their website. You can do all of the waivers on line to save time at the front desk. Check in was easy.
As we were walking in, my son and I both admitted we were a bit nervous. We've never done anything like this before and we had a fear of the unknown. If you have these natural feelings, they will soon vanish once you see the place.
We were brought into a room to watch a video. Very detailed explanation about hand signals.
Then it was time to suit up. You are given a small locker and everything, I mean everything, has to come off: watch, wallet, keys, wedding ring, etc....Nothing that can get caught on the netting.
First on is the big, baggy suit. Then goggles, eye protection, ear plugs and lastly the helmet. Safety first.
Once your group is ready, you walk, single file into the waiting area. Once in there, your instructor will take you, one by one, and help you "fly." Yes, it is so exciting. We paid for 2 flights. Each flight lasts one minute. Many pix and video are taken which you can purchase later.
The first flight was difficult. I had a problem getting my legs straight. The wind blowing up is very, very strong. But the second flight was much better. My legs were straight and I had much better posture. Looking at the video, I was able to "fly" almost the full minute. The instructor then took me on a "ride" and we went up a few feet, no more than 15, and back down again, spinning all the time. All I could do was laugh my head off! It was so fun. Not like the sensation you get from an amusement park ride; much smoother and you don't get that tickle in your stomach.
Yes, the prep and the wait are time consuming but it is all part of the experience. Our flight instructor then gave us a show with all of his flight skills. Amazing what he was able to do.
Would definitely again when we're in the area.

The Pavilion has regular performances by the Houston Symphony Orchestra and it’s fantastic. My husband and I went for date night, but it definitely was great for kids. Bring a picnic and sit on the hill. Wonderful music and the mezzanine and grass seats are free on these nights.

Go to our website to book your tour.
I took my father for his 81st birthday, along with my elementary-school-age daughters, and all three generations had a great time! The park is lovingly maintained and the animals are healthy and used to being around people. There's quite a variety of animals and an opportunity during the visit to duck into air condition - which is quite a plus on a warm day. The staff are very attentive and hospitable - allowing us to go at our own pace. They even provided my dad with a chocolate chip birthday cookie! My children did not want to leave and now want to go back! PS: Make sure to interact with the otters. They are beyond darling.

Wet 'n' Wild SplashTown, located just minutes north of Houston in Spring, TX, experienced a multi-million dollar transformation in 2014! Houston's Largest Waterpark already featured an impressive line-up of rides including the Brain Drain, Stingray Racer, Ripqurl, Tornado, Texas Free Fall, and Thunder Run. All-new visitor experiences include Wet 'n' Wild Jr., a new interactive children's area, Big Kahuna, a family mega-raft ride and FlowRider, a unique surfing experience! Poolside, private, shaded cabanas are available making Wet 'n' Wild SplashTown a perfect tropical vacation location that's affordable and so close to home.
It is currently all we have on the north side. They have stepped up the game over the years. Young people had an awesome time. Appears to be more to do than the other alternatives. I think it's best for those 7 and older. If you take younger ones plan to GE on paw patrol at a different level.

Wonderful experience for novice riders like myself or for season riders. The scenery is captivating and has trails, lakes, ponds and plenty of trees. There is also a small beach and riders can cross the water to the other side, or simply choose to splash in the water. The horses would love this treat on a hot summer day. This location is easily accessible from the greater Houston area.
Maverickhorsebackriding.com is a very professionally run trail riding company with many horses to choose from based on your expertise. I rode Maverick, a beautiful white Arabian with fantastic temperament especially for a beginner like myself. Highly recommend the trails in this location and the trail riding company. They were delightful, courteous and definitely centered towards customer service and satisfaction. Would definitely come back to explore the scenery more. Happy riding!!

The Spring Creek Greenway currently runs between Dennis Johnston park in Spring, Texas (north) and Jesse H. Jones Park and Nature Center in Humble, Texas (south). Access to the trail and parking is available at these end points and also at Pundt Park in Spring.
The trail runs over 12 miles along the path of Spring Creek. It is a smooth, paved asphalt trail with a minimum width of 10 feet. This is a multi-use trail for pedestrians/runners, cyclist, skaters, etc. The equestrian trail runs parallel to the paved trail for most of its length and shares it for shorts distances in a few places. The normal types of park facilities like restrooms, picnic areas, etc. and other things are available at the county parks along the trail.
The trail allows users to delve into a relatively unspoiled, pristine stretch of nature due to the Harris County Parks Department securing a right-of-way through many undeveloped and unspoiled acres of property along Spring Creek. Currently the Spring Creek Greenway is the largest forested urban greenway in the United States.
I have visited many greenway trails throughout the world, and indeed this one is world class in terms of it access to wildlife and natural beauty, as well as the condition of the trial and how well it is maintained. This is not something to miss if you are visiting the Spring area as a nature lover, bird watcher, hiker, biker, or horseback rider,

Two basketball families from Nebraska attending the John Lucas Right Way camp in Houston. Legends Sports Complex has it together. Eight full courts for simultaneous hoops. Also houses indoor soccer field, weight room, game room and childcare. Friendly staff. Nice place to hangout and enjoy hoops all day.
