As soon as Autumn comes around, this is the place to be. They have the best cider and make the greatest plain and apple cinnamon donuts! They can't be beat, especially when they're warm. Whenever you're visiting Kensington Metro Park or headed to a University of Michigan game in Ann Arbor, be sure to stop and pick up some cider and donuts for your picnic or tailgating. You'll be glad you made the stop!

Moose Ridge is truly a gorgeous course. The warning sign in the pro shop that "this is a tough course" should be heeded. A high handicapper like me struggled mightily, and, like other reviewers I find that several holes were roped off and designated "cart path only". My experience included much back and forth from ball to cart path which was tiring and annoying since I am definitely not a long ball hitter and my shots are frequently far away from the path. With a low handicap player taking fewer shots this may not be an issue and they would love this course. But I'm a senior citizen and have reached the point where I surrender to Moose Rodge. I won't be going back.

Anyone who has marveled at the ability of dogs to perform incredible feats and particularly those who owe their lives to War Dogs will appreciate this memorial.
It is a work in progress and needs help. Many of the markers were made of very poor cement and they have returned to earth. Hopefully the people dedicated to rebuilding this place have records of all the wonderful animals enshrined here.
You will be moved to tears by the hundreds of headstones and the marvelous new placards dedicated to mans best friend.
Wander around and read the loving tributes to wonderful animals by those that loved them. I was moved by this memorial as much as I have been by any of the hundred or so I have stopped at over the years. It is a worthy detour to take your kids to see what dogs have meant to so many people.

We visit our Son and his family each year during July and December. We have been trying to get the Grandkids to the Witches Hat Depot and museum but haven't been able to catch it open until our last visit in July. The Grandparents and Grandkids really enjoyed the depot and park. It was the first time our grandchildren have ever been inside a caboose. The older museum hosts were so nice to all of us.

Wide trail and fairly smooth through South Lyon from 11 Mile to 8 Mile. However the Twp. areas beyond are in need of work. They are getting rather bumpy. Also would like to see alternate roots branching in other directions closer to South Lyon. It's no fun riding out and returning on the same path over and over.

The Witch's Hat Depot used to be located on the south side of town where the two railroad lines crossed. The Depot was moved to McHattie park in the late 1970s (I think). It is currently used as a historical museum for the local area.
IMPORTANT! Don't assume that this place will be open if you are planning on taking a trip to see the musem. This museum has a very limited schedule, and I strongly advise that you call first to see if it will be open.
I visited the Witch's Hat Depot Museum during the "Depot Days" festival in 2012. There were lots of fun activities there for the kids.
Nearby the Witch's Hat are some historic buildings which have been moved to McHattie Park from the surrounding community. There is a one room schoolhouse, a small chapel (built from a material kit, as was sold through the Sears Catalog), a bandstand gazebo, a caboose and a reproduction of the railroad freight terminal.
A small parking lot is very close to the musuem. There is another parking lot on the other side of McHattie park which serves the playground and rail-trail.

Recently updated with 3D and new sound system this is a good cinema. It shows one film - normally the latest blockbuster - generally twice a day . Reasonable seats with ability to purchase popcorn and soft drinks.
Prices are about half that of the larger multiplex venues but if it the film you want then it is fine.

Choose from a range of small pottery figures and paint it yourself. After painting you leave for 5 days to glaze and harden. Clean and friendly and adjacent coffee.

The Third Monk is a smaller brewery located in South Lyon. However, they offer a very diverse selection of beers from lighter lagers to heavier porters, stouts and IPAs. The beer is top notch. Thursday's are a great time to catch some live music during open mic nite. The Third Monk doesn't serve food (other than popcorn and snacks) but they often host food trucks. The Third Monk is worth visiting!
