Sibu /ˈsibuː/ (simplified Chinese: 诗巫; traditional Chinese: 詩巫; pinyin: Shīwū) is an inland town at the central region of Sarawak and the capital of Sibu District in Sibu Division, Sarawak, Malaysia. The town is located on the island of Borneo. The town covers an area of 129.5 square kilometres (50.0 sq mi). It is located at the confluence of the Rajang and Igan Rivers, some 60 kilometres from the South China Sea and approximately 191.5 kilometres (119 mi) north-east of the state capital Kuching. Sibu is mainly populated by the Chinese especially the Fuzhou Chinese ethnicity. Other local ethnic indigenous groups such Melanau, Malay, and Iban are also present, but unlike other regions of Sarawak, they are not as significant. The town population as of the year 2010 is 162,676.

We love the heritage centre. They have very interesting information about Sibu and the citizens. You can see complete information about al the different cultures and the history till now. We learn a lot from this visit and the entree is free! The visitors information centre is downstairs.

It’s rare to find such a collection of antique medical equipment and a detailed description of the healthcare in rural sarawak preserved so well. And it’s free! The staff are extremely helpful and informative, providing a nice guided tour. Highly recommended for the medical staff of all backgrounds.

The temple stands more than 160 years already. Passing through two war world period. Situated at Sibu town centre, and aside Rejang River;some of the people travelling by water express or boats as it is main station point. Yearly worship,mostly CNY first day and 15th( Chap Goh Mei ),marriage ceremony, new born baby,lion dance open eye are the famous activities.

My wife is Malaysian Chinese sibu Sarawak and I am Aussie we went with our friend and child and love it. We also completed it and you do feel like your losing weight from the exercise.
