The Sea Isle Historical Museum is located within the local library building (shown in photo), and is the repository of Sea Isle's 136-year history from its founding in 1880 as an envisioned "Venice of America" to the present. The museum welcomes all ages to explore an eclectic array of artifacts ranging from a hundred-year old trolley bell to a 1970s flight suit. Visual material includes thousands of photographs, maps, books, and monographs. Visitors are invited to browse through the many displays and collections, or to sit and research any desired subject at leisure. It's free - and there's no time limit.
This is a must do in Sea Isle. The new Library is beautiful with scenic views of the bay and the Historic Museum is so cute and an interesting time.

I first ventured into the DDS back in the late 70's. I had read he weekly paper the Sea Isle City Times the Richie Havens was doing two shows at the Dead Dog Saloon. We went early expecting a crowd at the door but were the first ones there. As a reference point Richie (we became good friends) open up Woodstock singing "Here comes the sun". He also sang "Freedom" which he made up on stage at Woodstock as he played. I digress. The DDS was a small beach town bar that seats 90 people on two floors . It has more atmosphere than your grandmothers house on Thanksgiving. We sat at the bar not realizing that all we had to do was swivel our bar stools and we were five feet from the stage. Needless we stayed at the Dead Dog Saloon for both shows and had a couple brews with Havens when he finished. We saw Richie perform in Hilton Head, Charlotte, Atlantic city, Athens and many more places. Needless to say our favorite was the Sea Isle City's hidden gem the Dead Dog Saloon.
