This Cathedral is not old, a usual Cathedral. It's rather big (one of the biggest in the Volga region), but that's all. However it looks very nice in the evening (and looks OK in the daytime), so most tourists take a photo or two with this Cathedral as a background.

The Mordovian Republic Fine Arts Museum named after S.D. Erzia is one of the dynamically developing cultural and educational centres of the Republic of Mordovia, the Volga Region and Russia. The museum collection is based upon the sculptures by Stepan Erzia, a world-known artist, the pictures by Fedot Sychkov, a remarkable painter, Ilya Repin's pupil, the collection of Russian art of the 19th and the 20th centuries, the works of modern artists, folk and applied arts. Despite a comparatively short term of its existence in the cultural area of Russia, the museum already has much experience in organizing regional, state and international art Exhibitions. The museum, being an integral part of the world cultural area, takes a lively interest in new creative and constructive contacts and in the ways of organizing the art Exhibitions, symposiums and other cultural events connected not only with the fine arts, but also with history, literature, ethnography etc. The scientific and creative potential of the Mordovian Fine Arts Museum makes it possible to develop the museum work successfully within the context of the European cultural values. It serves the development of integration processes, because Culture and Art are the two great forces connecting people of different cultural and religious traditions.

Staff very happy to show us around, none of our group could speak Russian and staff could not speak English..A place where language does not matter as the museum tells the story.

We had the opportunity to attend a special event that was held at the theatre. The interior was ideally suited for presentations visually and for sound. The interior was ornate, laden with marble, stain glass, and mirror finish. As a tourist, the exterior of the guiding is a beautiful sight, especially when lit up at night. It offers great photo opportunities as an attraction. I don't know if the building is open for interior visits when there are no events. The theatre is also centrally located in the town centre. Close by are other great photographic opportunities such as water Fountains and a newly built sport hall.

Attended a week long international figure skating event at the Ice Palace. The building houses two ice surfaces. The main arena has ample, comfortable Seating all around the ice surface, perhaps with a capacity of 2000 to 3000 people. The secondary ice pad has temporary, portable Seating for maybe 100 people. This review is from a spectator's perspective rather than a sport participant using the ice.
Positives: The building exterior is very impressive and uniquely designed. The plaza outside the main entrance is a large open area that can accommodate large crowds. The main lobby is bright, and spacious allowing kiosks and booths to be situated. The building has a coffee shop/snack bar, a hockey pro shop, and a few large meeting rooms. The main arena seats are comfortable for sitting to watch an event with discomfort. The seat spacing is adequate. The lighting for the main ice surface is very good, but dimmer for the secondary ice pad. The air temperature is well regulated so you can be comfortable without a jacket. However the secondary ice rink is very cold. For the most part, the main arena accommodates wheelchair and disabled access quite well. The PA system is loud enough and clear.
NEGATIVES: There are not many washrooms and they are hard to find. The access corridors to the Seating around the main arena are narrow.
