The skies of Sao Vicente are dramatically pierced by the cocoa peaks of mountain ranges. The island is considered the birthplace of many styles of Cape Verdean music, and revelers gather to howl at the moon during the annual beach music festival in Baía das Gatas. With its gorgeous colonial-inspired architecture, the harbor city of Mindelo is perfect for self-guided walking tours, particularly the Praça Nova quarter and the Rua Libertadores d'Africa.

My name is Julia. I am an internationally educated Hatha yoga teacher as well a massage therapist and Ayurvedic nutritionist. I enjoy bringing people to healthy experiences in terms of exercise, massage, diet. Please read more in services about different types of massage offered. Available in the studio of Madeiralzinho and at the Residencial Che Guevara (located close to Laginha beach in Mindelo). Nutrition session(s) is held by demand. I speak several languages, welcome to reserve.
Julia was very friendly and helpful, she gave a excellent massage that really saved me from my shoulder and neck pain. I can highly recommend her services if you are in the area.

I visited this museum to pay homage to Cape Verde's most famous person. It is situated in an ordinary house in a side street (not her original house I don't think) and contains personal items such as her dresses, hair curlers, favourite coffee mug and ashtray as well as awards and decorations from her singing career. The story of her life is told in Portuguese, English and (I think) French. There is a very moving film of her funeral procession when all the local musicians accompanied her coffin to the cemetery playing 'Sodade'. Also you can listen to a wide selection of her songs on audio. The museum is excellent value and should be better known. Perhaps they could have more of her CDs on sale, though I did buy one.

On a clear day, it’s spectacular! There were haze but also windy when we went so we would get some windows of clear views and soon as it clears, it’s covered again. We were lucky as we see a lot of clearing. The drive up is not for the amateur driver or those scared of winding and narrow road with shear drops. Not much to do up there but take photos and admire the views therefore don’t choose to come unless you can see the top of mountain. We paid a taxi company to take us places around the island(day tour) for 70 Euros, we visited Calhau, Hiked to Viana Volcano, drove along Baia Grande, visited Praia das Gatas, Salamansa and Monte Verde, plus you a Miradouro or viewpoint of the city of Mindelo from the top of a hill. We had the best driver and guide called Bruni.

Ok I was there in feb march so it was very windy and the water a little fresh (22°). Nevertheless it was such a pleasure to have this beautiful white sand beach in town. The water is so clean that you see turtles posing their heads out of water sometimes. The beach is clean too. That makes a great difference with Barcelona and Rio. No bad currents or sharks. No danger. There are safeguards although not always concentrated on the swimmers to say the least. Perfect for a swim, or a refreshing dive. Great atmosphere.

Prominent building on the waterfront you can't miss Torre de Belem. For a small island I thought this museum was very interesting. Focussing on whaling I found it informative and well presented. There's a small entrance fee and from the top floor there are lovely views of the town.
