Santa Paula is a city in Ventura County, California, United States. Situated amidst the orchards of the fertile Santa Clara River Valley, the city advertises itself to tourists as the "Citrus Capital of the World." Santa Paula was one of the early centers of California's petroleum industry. The Union Oil Company Building, the founding headquarters of the Union Oil Company of California in 1890, now houses the California Oil Museum. The population was 29,321 at the 2010 census, up from 28,598 at the 2000 census.

Visit this historic building in a beautiful town, within walking distance to several other museums, restaurants and cool shops. Favorite thing besides their wonderful staff and gorgeous exhibits? The original bank vault door leading into another gallery space. Second favorite thing? The new Jeanette Cole building next door that hosts interesting talks, events and fun classes!

This is the same museum that used to be the Union Oil Museum until it was donated to the state in the 90's. Some great exhibits, a nice collection of old gas pumps and a working historic drilling rig out back. There is currently an Earth from Space traveling exhibit and a hot wheels exhibit on display also.
