In every country and every language, great wine is in many of life's most memorable moments. With deep passion, Haak Winery is dedicated to creating wines of distinction that accompany the memories of all who taste our wines and visit our estate. As the first winery and only commercial vineyard in Galveston County, we are excited to offer you premium wines made in the great state of Texas. We invite you to visit us and our gift shop where we offer daily tours and tastings. Around the world, milestones are marked with glasses held high. From Haak Winery, here's to history in the making.
Originally got engaged in the cellar in 2004. Before the expansion of buildings in back Haak looked like an authentic winery, vineyard and small covering for an event. Now there is a generic snack bar and kids area. If this is a venue for events it should have its own restaurant or chef or BBQ pits that are ready to serve. Not cheese platters, terrible burgers and catered crawfish that were so small it was not worth the time to peel them. When you arrive they tell you what you can do and cannot do, where to go and do not even offer a glass. This is a winery not a football or baseball game. Give me a glass. What a generic bland experience. Maybe that's why it was only at 20% capacity (at best) for a publicized event. I will remember the past and not return in the future. Sadly it has lost its charm.

This park has a lot of open space which is probably terrific in the spring/fall/winter, but there is very VERY little shade for summer (which lasts 7 months a year). We drove around, and looked at the Veteran's Memorial (which is nice), but there was not a place to sit comfortably out of the sun.

Helen's Garden is a tiny well maintained spot on Main Street under the cover of ancient oak trees this locale is an excellent place for photographs. this is a popular place for bridal and engagement photos. The water features make this place good for family pictures as well. The garden is also a nice place to sit and contemplate life for a while, worthy of a quick stop or a relaxing afternoon.

Dropped by this recently opened wine and cider bar on Dickinson Avenue on a Saturday night. Well lit parking lot had plenty of parking. Inside was large and modern but still felt comfortable and cozy. A friendly Labrador mix acted as the greeter and Raquel made us feel right at home. 7 tastings for 5 bucks was a pleasant surprise. All we tried were impressively good including a tasty mulled wine (at room temp). My wife tried and liked the ciders, too. We left with 2 bottles of the mulled wine ($10 each) and one bottle of the Honey Peach ($9). Plan on going back when they have live music scheduled.

This place is a real zoo. No concrete, staged displays, nor pristine animals. These animals were closer to their natural habitat. It was raining lightly that day we were there, so yes, some of the animals were caked with mud. However, in the real world, animals are caked in mud when it has been raining. These animals were calm when approached and gentle.
If you are expecting a clean, modern day concrete environment, then go to the Houston Zoo.
When we arrived there was a deer that calmly walked around and greeted you. Our two-year-old grandson petted him, then after the tram ride, he went on a pony ride.
This is a great place to go and experience animals in nature.
There is no restaurant so take a lunch, sit at the picnic tables, enjoy the day. The deer will walk around to your table, check out what you’re eating, it’s a wonderful experience for children and adults alike.

Bay Area Raceway is a Family owned and operated Entertainment Center that is perfect for any gathering or celebration. We pride ourselves on a Family-Friendly environment and strive to bring fun to your day. We have a large outdoor Go Kart Track, huge game room, a 4,000 square foot Laser Tag Arena and 3 party rooms that are perfect for birthday parties, company team building, school groups, church groups, troops, etc.
We checked this fun place out on Saturday, not expecting a lot. Boy, we're we suprized at what we found.
All employees there are very congenial and know their business. The entire establishment is super clean, including their restrooms. Lots of game machines, some of which vend tickets for redemption towards toy items.
Nice party sections that will work perfectly for the average party. With several different party options too. It's a deal and we are going to strongly consider child's parties here.
Good going, guys...

I've been visiting and watching this shrine for quite a few years. It's grown from a small meditation hall with some basic landscaping into an elaborate temple and outbuildings with beautiful statuary and iconography. The main temple is rich in colors and accessories, and yet calming and peaceful.
The grounds have become lush with an incredible variety of plants, bushes, and trees. And there is a wide variety of statuary among the shrubbery, and a large sleeping Buddha. The turtle pond is my favorite place to just hang out.
One explanation is needed: you will see a certain insignia on some statues and the meditation hall. Don't freak out. It's an ancient line drawing representing a bird in flight (look closely with your imagination) and the messenger who takes our prayers and meditations to the heavens, and good karma back to us. It's a sign of blessing, nothing else.
If you're in the area, its worth a stop, but be alert--it's set back from the road (north side) and partially hidden by the vegetation.

Topgolf is the premier golf entertainment complex featuring climate-controlled hitting bays, event spaces for groups of all sizes, and an impressive food and beverage menu. Players hit golf balls containing computer microchips that track each shot’s accuracy and distance while awarding points for hitting targets on the outfield.
We frequently come here on Saturday or Sunday mornings before noon for half price golf and brunch food/drinks! It’s a great way to enjoy Houston’s few months of gorgeous weather. The facility is clean, the staff is fun and friendly and the golf is great!...MoreThis is so great to hear. Thanks for your feedback. We love supporting our community, especially our troops! Good call on the pineapple mimosas, I may have to try that next time!
