It you want to see gators in the wild, this is the place to go. Take a Black Hammock airboat your, and you will see gators. A early morning car ride over the lake, and you will think there are a lot of logs out in the lake. But it is just alligators floating in the lake.

The Historic Downtown Sanford District in Central Florida is a global travel destination featuring award-winning restaurants, craft breweries, gastropubs, shopping, world-class events, street festivals, concerts, theaters, art galleries, and a spectacular marina featuring fishing, boating and dinner cruises.
Spent a Sunday afternoon exploring downtown. Cute shops to explore, wish I had more time and better company to shop with. lol But I would recommend a visit. Lots of good food to choose from and a Great German Market/Deli! Come visit, you won't be disappointed.

Opened in October 2014, Wop's Hops Brewing Company is Sanford's first brewery. We are located in the historic district of the City of Sanford and just blocks away from the beautiful Lake Monroe and the St. Johns river. We have a tasting room, dog friendly beer garden, restaurant and we are family friendly.
Probably one of my favorite craft breweries I have visited while on the central Florida ale trail! I got the Tiramisu Porter and it was amazing! I definitely want to come back because I saw about 6 more beers I want to try! Definitely come and check this brewery out!

We ilve about 15 minutes away from this area and just recently discovered it....and it is truly a treasure. Although there are roots and sometimes uneven ground, the trail is relatively easy for anyone who can walk 7.1 miles. Suggest that you wear hiking shoes or at least good tennis shoes to avoid twisting an ankle or bruising a toe. I saw one man biking the trail which would be fun except there were several areas where you would have to walk the bike around big tree roos that had quite a slope to them. We saw lots of birds, gators and beautiful views of the St. Johns River. Be sure to take plenty of water as there would be none available on the trail. The trail is well marked and has signs marking off every 1/2 mile. It is a nice 7.1 mile loop. I wouldn't recommend this trail in the middle of the summer but then I don't recommend much outdoors in Florida in the summer unless it involves the water. If you want to see the real Florida enjoy nature for free.....try the Black Bear Wilderness area.

The Sanford Riverwalk is easily one of the cities most beautiful locations, if not the best. It’s one of the main reasons I chose to move here. It has a little bit of everything. If you want you can take a nice walk along the lake, or jog, bike ride, or even take a romantic walk with a special someone during sunrise or sunset. You can opt to do a picnic or fish along the waters edge of you like. There’s a small marina, and even some restaurants along the lake in addition to a bunch of storefronts, restaurants, and bars a short walk away in downtown Sanford. I find it to be a place of tranquility for me. A place I can come to relax, unwind, and forget about the daily grind. I’ve spotted birds, gators, fish, and other animals in and around the lake. I also live the long aluminum swings and binocular stands along the riverwalk path. I highly recommend visiting this place because I think you’ll fall in love with its beauty like I have!

So many variety’s of beer made in house! Very nice people too. They have some great sours, even friends that say they don’t like spurs liked theirs as some just have a little bite. But they had plenty of other variety too! I highly recommend Deviant Wolfe!!!

Nestled in a protected natural wetland, the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens has animals from around the world including, rhinos, giraffes, leopards, monkeys, exotic birds, an Insect Zoo, and much more. Our Reptile House offers the southeast's largest collection of reptiles. We also offer live animal encounters, many educational opportunities and demonstrations, daily Keeper Chats and Shows, a Tropical Splash Playground, and Animal Carousel. For a small fee, you can feed our giraffes, or have a one of a kind encounter with our Indian rhino! With something for everyone, the adventures are endless!
Definitely worth visiting if you’re vacationing into near Orlando! They have an interactive section where you can feed goats, lamas, Alpacas, donkeys, I strongly recommend!! You can also feed a giraffe or rhino. They have different shows as well with different animals. Theres a BBQ spot on site. And most importantly make sure to stop by the Seminal outdoor adventure which is right inside of the zoo at the beginning, they have tree trek including zip line. Crystal and Maggie made the whole experience so much more worth it. They were very patient and encouraging and stayed with us the whole time! The overall experience is worth the price!
