George Ranch Historical Park

The George Ranch Historical Park's history follows family lines beginning in 1824 and spans more than 100 years. Just 30 miles southwest of downtown Houston, the Park is located on a 20,000 acre working ranch featuring historic homes, costumed interpreters, historic food programs, school tours, group tours, event rental facilities and livestock. It's a living history partnership of the Fort Bend County Museum Association and The George Foundation.

About 30 miles outside of downtown Houston, sits the George Ranch Historical Park - there are several homes on the tour, starting with a replica dog-trot cabin. Chronicling the lives of Mamie and Albert George each house tells a portion of their legacy. A tractor pulled trailer with seating is available between each location, but the walking is pleasant if you are able. The doscent's knowledge and period costume dressing varies widely between sites. Cowboys and cowgirls give roping and other demonstrations. Picnic tables are available for picnics and there is a small gift shop.

Rosenberg Railroad Museum

Just attended my grandson's two year old birthday party here.

Great fun!

There is a nice toy filled space in back with an adjacent party room.

We gathered there for Happy Birthday.

Then we all gathered for a tour of the museum grounds.

Walked thru an old caboose.

Climbed stairs up to a room that held controls for the train tracks.

And walked thru a really cool old car, I believe it was referred to as the Quebec car.

There is also an old fire engine out back.

My favorite was the room full of model trains.

The only thing lacking was, although extremely nice, our guide did not tell the group anything on the tour. Although she was open for questions.

The kids had a blast.

I believe a bouncy house can be obtained at an additional cost.

Old Downtown Rosenberg is looking great. I want to go back and check out all the shops.

Oh, and of course the best thing of all, was when the trains went by. The kids were absolutely thrilled.

Nothing beats s Choo choo!!!!

Fort Leaton

Reviewed By TNKaz - Kingston, TN

We really enjoyed our visit to Fort Leaton State Historic Site. We started by reading all the information in their museum. Then we took the self-guided tour with brochure that explains all about the various rooms. Reconstruction is still on-going in parts of the fort. If you like history, you will really like this stop. The entrance fee allows you a 1-day permit to Big Bend Ranch State Park and covers the entrance fee to Barton Warnock Environmental Education Center, at Lajitas. If you are driving the VERY scenic 170 road between Presidio and Lajitas, and want to stop to do the short Closed Canyon Trail or HooDoos Trail, your 1-day permit will cover the fee for parking at the trailhead.

Very nice theater with wide assortment of food choices. If the standard concession food doesn't excite you the choose from burgers, pizzas, wraps, sandwiches and more, all made to order. And if that's not enough there's a gelato bar that looking amazing.

The theater is comfortable m, the screen's huge and the sound is great.

All in all an enjoyable experience.

We had time to kill, so went there . Got the AARP discount, so was only $10 for the 2 of us . We took no kids and there were only about 4 kids there during our visit. We could do all the hands on activities without waiting . We could also take the time to read everything . They have some beautiful minerals and great fossils .

Small Museum with plenty of items to see and information about the local area and it's history.

It was a very interesting trip but we didn't check out the tour times before we went so missed out on seeing the inside of the house which was disappointing.

Next time i am in the area i will visit again to see this.

Red Queen's Attic Antiques Gifts & Collectibles

Reviewed By gordonk825 - Richmond

If you like antiques that are not priced out of this world, you should stop by Red Queen's Attic. I have been going there since it was opened and when I commented on how reasonable the pricing was, the owner said she was not running a museum and that the next time I came it I should notice new items added because the items I see today should be sold.
As for the people who own/work there, well, you just can't find nicer folks. If I take my daughters there, they are treated like little queens and are always happy when I tell them we might go there to see what's new.
Red Queen's is not a small place, so take your time and enjoy what yourself.

Texian Brewing Co.

Texian Brewing Co is a craft brewery nestled in the heart of Fort Bend county. It opened in 2012 as the first craft brewery in Richmond & Fort Bend County. Stop by for a pint of beer or stay for one of our fun events. For more info, check out the event calendar on our webpage. Cheers!

Reviewed By Larry C - Sugar Land, Texas

Located in suburban Richmond, TX Texian suffers not from self-centered hipsters but rather enjoys a family crowd of 30-something parents and some singles and couples. Lots of seating and safe places for kids to play. But bring balls, chalk, bubbles, etc.
The beer's are very unique with a daring menu of sours and saison. Rest assured there are solid lagers, ales, and wietbiers as well. Prices are well below standard for the trade. Food truck rolls in at 6.
If you are in Ft. Bend County and in need of a laid back craft experience this is it!

This is a favorite place to visit in Richmond if you are a Texas history lover. Jane Long and Maribeau Lamar are buried there. This cemetery is great for making rubbings of the grave stones.
