Rokycany (Czech pronunciation: [ˈrokɪtsanɪ]; German: Rokitzan) is a town in the Plzeň Region of the Czech Republic. It is 17 km (11 mi) east of the region capital Pilsen on the confluence of the River Klabava and the Holoubkov Brook (Czech: Holoubkovský potok). Alternatively, the Holoubkovský potok is referred to as the Borecký potok and the section of the Klabava River down to the confluence as the Padrťský potok. There is another smaller brook (Rakovský potok or Rakováček) in the western part of the town.

Something like a 20min drive from Pilsen this museum is hidden away in an old military depot on the Southern Outskirts of Rockycany.
We were not actually sure it was open as we parked up, walked down the path, through the gate, and into the old barracks area and into the area the tanks were on display. We had to ring a small bell and a chap from somewhere in the grounds stopped working on his vehicle and came to sell us tickets - limitec English but v v helpfull.
There are row upon row of Military trucks, Armoured vehicles and Tanks. Mainly Post War but quite a few WW2 vintage pieces as well as SAM systems, Radio trucks etc. The collection is housed in what appear to be an old munitions store - v atmospheric. There are some Cold War shelters to have a look at as well.
There is a small museum telling the story of Czechoslovacia in WW2 - lots of English info which was great.
There bappear to be refreshment facillities and a shop - but these were closed. We went on a Monday - must have been a slow day - we were there almost 2 hours and the only visitors.
Its a wonderfull place as one can get up close and walk around the vehicles - not gaze at them from a distance. Loved it - absolutley loved it !!!

In these ancient hammer works you will spend 30 minutes with a guide. Maybe more, if You are interested in. A real blacksmith shows the work with iron including its processing under water-run hammer. You can learn not only the history of the industry and its leaders in the region, but see how the iron products were made, too. A small exhibition shows what kind of products have been made here. At the end You can buy hand-made nail for just 5 CZK or some iron souvenirs. And if You come for "Hamernicke dny" May event, You can bring Your own iron tools to let them renovate or sharpen.

A well reconstructed and maintained historical affair that has wonderful Gardens and a good out-door mini-golf circuit. Start up on the hill and walk down over the bridge to have some excellent teas and cakes up by the car park..

As said in previous reviews, my wifecandcI love zoos. This zoo, Plzen Zoo was the third this trip. Initial, reaction was not favourable until we followed the zoo map more carefully and discovered what a wonderful place it is. An amazing collection of so many different species. Huge enclosures- the brown bear enclosure was 10 times larger than any similar we have seen. Lots of endangered species,,and an obviously successful breeding program for many species. Apart from big ticket species like lions, rhinos etc, this zoo has an amazing collection of small rodent, mongoose and lemur species. And fabulous exotic birds. Altogether a great experience for zoo lovers. And it is also the Botanic Gardens, so lots of wonderful flora.

Walk the streets of Pilsen with a tour, beautiful place. Not handicap or elderly friendly. The streets are your typical stone and can be difficult. All this said, the sites are spectacular. The Cathedral is amazing and worth the photo opp. Only observed it from the outside but enjoy the beauty and history of it. Worth the time.
