The 10 Best Things to do in Rhodes Town, South Aegean

January 25, 2022 Elouise Mccaul

The largest of the twelve Dodecanese islands on the Aegean's eastern edge, Rhodes is also its most popular. The well-preserved medieval city of Rhodes sits at the north of the island of the same name. High rise hotels line the northern and eastern coastlines. Small villages and resorts dot the island's other shores. Whether your interests are beaches, bars or ancient sites, Rhodes offers an abundance of all three. Authentic Greece can be found in the hilly interior of the 50-mile long island.

For a small charge, this Synagogue provides entrée into the remarkable life stories of the Jewish people of Rhodes. The interior of the Synagogue is beautiful with its pebbled floor and light filled interior. It provides a calm and contemplative space to reflect on the generations of Jewish life revealed in the adjacent museum.

The Acropolis of Rhodes

Reviewed By AS2345

We were so surprised to find very little information about this site. It is truly amazing and well worth a visit. We got a taxi up to the Acropolis and spent a little over an hour exploring the site. Our kids (aged 7 & 10) loved it as well. The stadium in particular is fabulous. We then slowly walked back down to our hotel stopping en-route for refreshments. It was a lovely way to spend a morning.
