Better start your trip to Katu-Yaryk Passage from Aktash (788 km of R-256 "Chuysky Trakt" from Novosibirsk). Make your tank full of gas in Aktash before you start. Be ready to overcome then about 50 km (depends on season and weather) of highly-likely off-road part of road - sandy mostly:). The way from Aktash to Katu-Yaryk passage is about 100 km and could last 2-2,5 hours one way. And it's worth it. Beautiful site of Chulyshman Valley, and the Passage as itself. If you'll wish to pass your way down to the valley (or even up then) make your mind about 4WD option of the transport - it would be good idea.

Lake Teletskoye, which is called the pearl of Siberia, is the most unique body of water in the world. Its eastern part belongs to the Altai State Biosphere Reserve. The waters of the lake fill the bowl of tectonic origin, located between the spurs of the Abakan Range, the mountains Korbu and Altyn-Tu. On the rocky shores of the lake are virgin forests, still untouched by man.
