Rajgir (originally known as Girivraj) is a city and a notified area in Nalanda district in the Indian state of Bihar. The city of Rajgir (ancient Rājagṛha; Pali: Rājagaha was the first capital of the kingdom of Magadha, a state that would eventually evolve into the Mauryan Empire. Its date of origin is unknown, although ceramics dating to about 1000 BC have been found in the city. This area is also notable in Jainism and Buddhism as one of the favorite places for Lord Mahavira and Gautama Buddha and the well known "Atanatiya" conference was held at Vulture's Peak mountain.

This is the peak where devadatta (siddhattha's cousin), tried to kill lord buddha by falling big stone onto lord buddha. Though the stone missed, but it caused little injury on buddha's foot. You hv to climb quite high, about 30 minutes walk onto the peak. The track was also the same as when King Bimbisara wants to meet Buddha

When the glory of Nalanda University was at its peak, Hieun Tsang had come to India in 633 AD to study Buddhism and mysticism. He came to India during the region of Gupta dynasty and stayed here for 12 years.This is a best place to see and relax.

the Asoka Stypa Peak is the peak atop the hill to be reached by ropeway in chair car or by trekking along one side of the hill. The beautiful Stupa atop the hill is very impressive with 4 buddhas on each side of the stupa. It could be better maintained, with cleaner environment and places for rest and relaxation for the turists.

A beautiful garden where Gautama Buddha delivered his sermons to common people. Gautama Buddha used to stay here. He preferred to take rest here. Earlier it was a bamboo grove with a big tank. Lord Buddha used to bathe in the tank.

The shape of this lake resembles a horse, hence the name Ghora (horse) Katora. Vehicles are not allowed so you need to take a horse cart to this location. Ride duration is about 35-40 minutes. This lake is huge and you can enjoy boating and other activities. Few eateries are also located in the vicinity.

Don't understand what it's like in the past, but now only seen like a city wall. Situated just after leaving rajgir onto nalanda. There's no obvious signed of any fort so you have to be very careful to search to it
