Portage is a city in Kalamazoo County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 46,292 in the 2010 census. It is the smaller of the two main cities included in the Kalamazoo-Portage Metropolitan Statistical Area, which has a population of 326,589 as of 2010.

There have been great improvements and additions to the museum since they've opened, and it's become the perfect place to spend an afternoon with little ones. Lots of hands-on enriching activities, fun movies, and a super clean and organized environment. Our grandkids love coming here, and we love how we're able to interact with them on all the activities.

We have been many times and love this place. Great way to spend an afternoon. Love when they have open cockpits, and can’t wait until summer so we can ride the Bi plane again . Very friendly staff and very informative !

The Comstock Brewery is home to our 200-barrel system and 50-barrel system, where beers like Oberon and Two Hearted are produced. Kalamazoo Institute of Arts

A visual arts museum with 11 galleries featuring 3-4 loaned exhibitions and permanent collection galleries focused on American art. Free and family programming includes a first-Friday Art Hop, monthly Art Detectives gathering on the 2nd Saturday of the month; and a Friday Teen Night. A family gallery offers hands-on fun for children 2 and up, with a black light corner, book nook, mechanical drawing "robots", pegboard art-making, a drawing walli, even a n antique communication device: a typewriter!

The KIA is a wonderful museum with exhibits that are often more common in larger cities. Numerous openings, lectures and special events are offered. The world class Art school offers dozens of classes for all ages and skill levels. Annual art sales offer great locally produced works at very reasonable prices. Gift shop has a wonderful selection of high quality items. Website always updated with current information. A true gem!

My daughter and I went for the food trucks! It took a few minutes to find parking but that wasn't a big deal! There were so many booths/vendors with different products, it was awesome! The music was a nice addition and the food trucks were awesome as well! We can't wait to go back!

During our annual visit to family in the area we stopped in for some of our favorite balsamic vinegars & olive oils. After sampling the lemon vinegar sweet pickles, I bought the pickling spice mix & vinegar to prepare my own at home. They were delicious! I could eat a jar as a snack & did. I even reused the brine 3 times with new cucumbers & sweet onions. Can’t wait to buy more next year! Thanks for your tasting station. We find new flavored oils & vinegars to bring home with each visit.

Being right off the freeway you'd think it would be easy access....WRONG!! One way in and out and no traffic control makes it horrible. Get ready to sit in traffic. Suggestion if going to a popular show or concert...either plan to get there more than 2hrs before or take a detour & come in from the south on Sprinkle.

Kalamazoo State Theatre

The State Theatre has been a fixture in downtown Kalamazoo since 1927. The original founder of the theatre was Colonel William Butterfield. John Eberson was the renowned architect who designed the theatre. In line with theatre design conventions of the era, the idea was to create a unique atmospheric effect. The early roots of the theatre were found in the Vaudevillian tradition of performance. Many acts that frequented the State Theatre included opera, dramas, big bands, ballet, dance reviews, stage shows and movies.

The audiences here are the finest in the world. Small Venue Artists enjoy the setting. They return year after year. We love the ones that play and they love us enough to play again. We Dance in front of the stage. They play, we dance. They play we respond. Not a dead audience here.
