The Port Hedland Peace Memorial Seafarers Centre is one of over 300 centres worldwide providing pastoral care, services and support for seafaring people. To support the services provided to Seafarers, the Port Hedland Seafarers Centre is excited to be able to offer Daytime Harbour Tours of the Port Hedland Port to the general public. Our new FMGL port facility site tour is an exciting opportunity to get in behind the scenes to see how the iron ore is received, stored, reclaimed, and loaded onto these giant bulk carriers. Lisa’s Kangaroo Retreat rescues, rehabilitates and releases wildlife, including injured and orphaned joeys, kangaroos, wallabies, possums and other animals. Field trips to the retreat are fun, educational and heart-warming. Interacting with and supporting animals in need is a great experience for all the family, and a great opportunity for kids of all ages.
We went here for a team-building day with my company and it was an experience I will never forget. We were able to hand-feed the joeys which was a highlight for me. It is a wildlife sanctuary located opposite the salt mines in Port Hedland (follow the road sign). I will go again with my family. Five Star experience!

We were fortunate to Witness some Flatback turtles laying their eggs on separate occasions at dusk at Cemetery beach. The volunteer “ turtle patrol” offered information about the process and how not cause undue stress to the turtles. We were advised to return at 7 AM in the hope if seeing some hatchlings make their way to the ocean. We were lucky to witness one little turtle make it to the water. Their were several reef sharks in the shallow water, hopefully the little turtle didn’t get eaten.
