Chinook Honey Company is an apiary nestled in the Calgary foothills. The honey boutique includes many honey made treats including ice cream, jams, jellies, sauces and body care products and apitherapy items. A live observation hive gives an insight into the fascinating world of bees and helpful staff will gladly answer any questions. Chinook Arch Meadery offers free mead (honey wine) tasting. Learn how this ancient beverage is made. Organized tours available ($).
I've been a repeat customer of Chinook Honey for several years. Actually drive out from Calgary. The reason I keep returning is the superb quality of their products and the genuine sincerity of the staff and owners. Every month I look forward to the newsletter and introduction of new products, especially the honey mixes and jams and jellies. It's a country store setting with a flair for the unique. Don't underestimate it for special gifts. Jimbo,

A great place to visit that's a short-ish drive from Calgary. Parking lots fill up and it can get busy, probably mostly on the weekends. Short walks available, but seems like you can meander quite far as well and get your fill of nature without having to drive forever to get somewhere. Or you can just as easily plunk yourself onto one of the picnic tables or bring your own chair and find some space to chill out and listen to the water flow by. If being around tons of families with noisy children isn't your thing, you don't have to go far to get some peace and quiet. It's a nice drive there and back, so while you make it a half day destination, you can just as easily make it a full day, depending on how you plan. The water is bone-chilling and clear. Wear good outdoor shoes. Bring layers. Check the weather and road conditions/closures. It's a perfectly fine destination for experiencing the beauty of the foothills. Definitely worth an hour or so of your time, and a bit more if you want to explore the trails along water. I quite happily spent an entire day here.

Kids love mini-golf, and this course is set in a beautiful golf course with ponds and trees, and is well maintained, so it's nice for the adults coming along. The 18 holes are in a compact arrangement, so there's no long walking, which the little ones and some seniors will appreciate. There are some water features, so vigilance is required at all times regarding kids - if there's water, the balls will go in for sure. Thought has gone into the design of each hole, so each is different. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful, even suggesting a change to our little one's putter - if it's too big, you can't see the ball from directly overhead, making it harder to find its mark. We had coupons, so it helped with the price, but not all that expensive regardless. There is food at the clubhouse, but we were a bit early for lunch, and they didn't have a lot of nice snacky things for us. Recommended!

Very nice bouldering gym with very friendly staff. Wish I could have stayed longer but they had an event taking place. I will be back because of the fun problems and welcoming staff.
