If you’re visiting Oberammergau in a year ending with zero, it’s all about the Passion Play. Villagers have performed it since the 17th century. It’s seven hours long (thankfully, with an intermission), and about half the townspeople participate in 100+ performances between May and October. And since hundreds of thousands are expected to attend over the course of those performances, if you’re in town, you’ll have company.

This massive church is frequented visited by Catholic pilgrims.
I visited this church on a rainy day in June. After passing through a grave yard a very old handcrafted door opens into the church. This is a Catholic Church, beautiful Wal paintings with a cupola painted and a Chrystal chandelier hanging down on a long chain. The seats are made of pine and you can tell they have been used for centuries. The altar is decorated in gold and silver and you can tell this is a very rich church.A very nice organ oversees the church and it powerful sound is nice to listen too.It is well worth it to take some time to visit this gem.

Lovely house with spectacular outside paintings on the walls. It sits in a nice garden, so with the setting probably this is one of the prittiest painted buildings in the town. If your are in Oberammeragau, do not miss it - it in just in center of town.

The family recreation area at Kolben in Oberammergau has everything for an exciting and diverse day in the nature perserve of the Ammergauer Alps. There's fun and action with the Alpine Coaster, playtime for the young ones on the mountain adventure playground, a variety of paths with amazing views to hike on, and the Kobensattel Lodge with it's singular view of Oberammergau and the Ammertal.

The most amazing views on a clear day. You can hike up which takes about 2 hours or so or you can take the cable car up and back if you prefer. the cost for the cable car is around 18 euro return trip. there is a lovely restaurant at the top. The food is good and priced well.

Amazing panoramic views of the town and surrounding areas. The hike to the summit is not for the faint of heart, but worth the effort. If you love alpine hiking, you will not be dissapointed.

We visited the Passiontheater and had an English tour. It was so interesting to hear what the whole town will be up to in 2020. To see the costumes and artefacts they need for the Passion Play, and also the way the built the playhouse and the stage.
