The Old Town section of Novato is really fun to visit. A really wide variety of shops including restaurants, clothing stores, a great shoe store (Mara's), gift stores, things for your home, a paint store, an antique store, a saw shop, a book store, ice cream & candy, and more. All the really cool things you might find in an old timey small town with newer stores too, like Whole Foods. We park at one end and walk the full length of both sides of the street looking at what is new and chatting with store owners. This is how a community downtown should be. We love it!

I've been going to the Sunday Marin County Farmers' market for the past 20 years. THere's an amazing variety of local producers--farmers, growers, bakers, fishermen, local food artisans and craftspeople. There has to be close to 100 in all. There's a really nice vibe to the place too, as the market is nestled in a hollow behind the Frank Lloyd Wright Civic Center.
Get there early--8am opening--as it gets crowded quickly

On vacation to Point Reyes my family and I stopped off at this amazing little briery! If you love Brie this is your place! It was so tasty we had to stop back the next day to purchase more! They have garlic jalapeño, truffle, breakfast, triple cream, and many other Brie like cheeses! Additionally they have super tasty goat cheeses! The friendly and helpful Vianette let us sample a few and was very informative! I highly recommend the stop!

Located on the grounds of an old Chinese fishing settlement, this park includes over 1,500 acres of beaches, hiking trails and picnic grounds.
This was a Chinese Fishing Village that offers a lot of history. The people who created and settled this village were Chinese labors who had work on the transcontinental rail road and after its completion created a shrimping industry. Lot of evidence of how they worked and used their machinery.

Sonoma features many parks with a more natural setting and better scenery. Shollenberger starts from a non descript industrial/office park, and if you walk counter clock rise your initial walk down a linear levy towards the Petaluma River. The initial stroll down the river offers views on the opposite bank of a sand and gravel processing area, deteriorating buildings, abandoned boats, cars and SUVs before eventually opening into a more natural look. If you look at it from a different perspective, you see a recovered wetland habitat supporting an abundance of wild life. Other advantages include it being close into Petaluma, flat, and dog friendly (please use a leash as required). I would not drive a long way to see this park (there are better options), but is you are in Petaluma and want a place for a quick get away, dog walk, or jog, this fits the bill.

This is an excellent museum of the past Airbase and also has collections of the various planes that flew. Everything from prior to WW11 to it's closure .

Casual, comfortable, neighborhood place for a relaxing time. The wine is very good and it is fun to try the different offerings. Such a pleasant atmosphere for an evening or just for a treat before dinner. Have not seen the comedy nights, but sounds like a treat and we will return for sure!

Docent tours of this Frank Lloyd Wright designed building take place every Wednesday morning at 10.30. It costs $10 and reservations are not required. Our guide Joel was very well informed and the tour was fascinating, it included the chamber and the library. Highly recommended.
