The deep blue waters of the Cote d’Azur are the dramatic backdrop for elegant Nice. Breathe in the fresh Mediterranean air as you stroll the waterfront promenade, or get an eagle eye of the whole city from atop Castle Hill. The pedestrians-only Place Rossetti is the heart of the city, with a grand fountain, vibrant buildings, and the beautiful Sainte-Réparate cathedral giving it a provincial French feel.

This historic part of Nice feels like a medieval village with narrow streets curving between old buildings with red-tile roofs, small restaurants and open-markets.
A lovely part of Nice to wander around by day or night . In the day it is a quaint bustling area of little shops and stalls and cafes. Very narrow streets that you could wander around for hours getting lost and seeing something different everytime . By night it lights up and all the cafes and bars are open and has a lovely atmosphere. A must do if your in Nice

This famous street travels along Nice's Mediterranean waterfront.
We stayed at the Hotel West End few minutes walk from the front beach. It is actually in the Promenade des Angles. The road is busy specially in the rush hour. However the Promenade it's walkable and safe and when it's sunny, definitely you can spend hours.

Have been there many times, and love going up the steps every visit. The view, the waterfall, the cemetery.

This park was a beautiful, if not sweltering walk, but really worth it! When you climb, whether you go via the stairs by the Hotel Suisse, or up the long ramp which reveals wonderful shopping and restaurants on hidden Nice back streets, you won't regret the effort. At the top there is the uncovered ruins of a 10th century church, and a waterfall that takes your breath away. There are also Gardens at the top and unbelievable views nearly 360 degrees all around you from on top of the waterfront of Nice. Take a cab there if you don't want to brave the 30+ degree temps, or walk the Promenade for a real Nice experience.

This museum has a large collection of works by Marc Chagall, the famous Russian-born painter and designer.
Most museums or galleries dedicated to an artist are very sycophantic towards their subject; not the Marc Chagall museum.
It takes a humble perspective towards Chagall's work and displays some of his finest work in a wonderful collection that allows it to fully breathe.
As you wander round this welcoming space, you're invited to pause and reflect on each of the works here with no need to rush or hurry your way round.
Very much worth the trip outside of the main tourist area, a 25 minute walk or so up the hill from the old town.
The café does not accept cards.

It's a most pleasantly garden, stroll around in an absolutly calm and admire the nice roses, cedars, aromatic herbs; the beautiful landscape grounds and the Monastère of
Cimiez, all forms the city most beautiful central park with plenty of flowers and trees,
which make a very relaxed way to see the park.

This Cathedral is definitely a standout among others in Europe. It doesn't look as same-y, and actually has quite lovely colors everywhere.

Although we didn't check beforehand, the Observatory was closed, and the road to it was blocked, so we can't even see it from the outside or as a viewpoint over Nice - shame.

A picturesque city square in Nice's historic quarter.
We walked through the square after visiting the park. The tram goes right through it. There are interesting statues. Places to sit and eat and drink and watch the world go by. Wonderful architecture. Well worth a visit.
